Good Morning Tabitha,

I see that you are looking to see how hot your Frigidaire dryer, model# FER311FS, actually gets, due to you not having temperature controls on your particular model. Being that you have just the timed dry cycle, it provides up to 100 minutes of drying time at high heat for regular and permanent press items. When drying permanent press items, turn the cycle selector to 40-50 minutes. This is the average time needed to dry most loads of permanent press items. The load tumbles without heat during the last 10 minutes of the Timed Dry cycle. Use this setting to refresh clothing, pillows or blankets or to dust draperies. Heat-sensitive items such as plastics, foam rubber or similarly textured rubber-like materials or items containing feathers or down should be dried only with this setting. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Troubleshooting dryer

Fancy. I never worked on one this new but all of em basically work the same. If you look on youtube their is a video how to tear down a duet dryer on repair clinic .com. These dryers have a thermistor mounted where the old klixon temp control used to be. The klixon sends back changes in resistance to the control and that is how the control knows what the temp is inside the drum. If it is bad the control won't know the inside temp and therefore the dryer won't budge. The fuse which is mounted right next to the klixon could also be blown if the dryer got too hot because of the faulty thermistor. Of course ya could have a bad door switch or a bad broken belt switch. Duet dryer service manual

My dryer is overheating. Clothes are so hot you can't handle them. Amana electric model LEA60AW

You control thermostat is not working. Replace it. It mounts on the blower housing. After making sure the blower is not loose replace the stat. It is the only thing that controls the temp. The limits shut down the element if the control stat fails to do so. Them clothes is getting too hot because the 250f limit on the element is shutting down the element. The fuse is not blowing because it is rated for 350f. Therefore with the control stat inoperable the clothes is getting too hot.

Model MDE4000AYW, Dryer runs full hot no matter where I set the temp selector. It appears the temp selector may be bad? The sliding selector seems to have 0 resit.(open cir) white to black. Thanks for...

The cycling or operating thermostatis often the problem when a dryer runstoo hot, but there are also other things that can make it run hot also.

Here is a tip that I wrote that gives more details about why a clothes dryer will get too hot.

The top of the dryer gets hot when temp control is not set on off

One of your heating elements has broken and welded itself to the heater housing. When the timer is activated L-2 powers the remnant through the timer to the neutral. You need to unplug the dryer and fix the heater element. 9b8cf19.jpgbc36f64.jpg97143cb.jpg

My Frigidaire gas dryer isn't hot. Otherwise it runs fine.

it could be either your ignitor(glow coil) flame sensor control, or a defective thermal switch telling dryer its at temp and shutting off gas supply before it even fires initially

Older kenmore electric dryer. Smells hot.

This is not a element problem, this is either a High temp or Timer going bad. If you could give me the model and serial number that would help more or you can go to and just order the two parts and replace both of them. They are fairly cheap and very easy to install yourelf

Dryer hets to hot

I would check the temp at your outside vent while the dryer is running temp should anywhere from 180 to 225 at the high end and should cycle down from there so u should get like 225 then will drop down to 90's then come back up to the high temp and check on all temp settings. if it does not your operating thermostat may be bad go back over the instructions that came with your thermostat kit to double check your wiring the tech sheet should be in the control panel with the wiring diagram.

Sounds like a heating element. Those can run pretty cheap and are not hard to replace.

Getting too hot

sounds to me like a temp control problem, perhaps the heating element controller is faulty allowing the temp to rise over the safety cutout switch range, Hence a cooling down time is required to reset the dryer. Try on cold cycle.. If so try it should run ok
