Question about Garden
You haven't supplied a lot of information to work with but a few things you should check.
Spark...., remove the sparkplug and earth it against a metal part of the saw. Get your girlfriend to pull it while you hold the plug and check the spark. If the spark is not bright blue and it's yellow or not there at all then renew the sparkplug. If you replace the sparkplug and there is still no spark then disconnect the earth switch wire at the terminal on the coil. Following that if the spark is still elusive then your coil will be dead.
Assuming spark is okay - check your fuel. Have you got fresh clean 2/stroke fuel? Water can accumulate in a petrol storage container, are you aware of that? make sure it's free of water.
If the fuel s a bit old then dump it and get a fresh mix. (Put the old stuff in your car if you don't want to waste it.)
The final test is compression, with the sparkplug back in the machine, gently pull it over. It should feel quite lumpy in a regular pattern. If not then you may have piston damage and the easiest way to check that is to whip the muffler off and inspect through the exhaust ports. If scoring is visible on the piston face then it's a major strip down and replacement of piston and cylinder.
Hope that helps.
