Question about Friedrich QuietMaster SL28J30A Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My Friedrich SL28J30 blew the fuse 2X over a couple of weeks. I reset the breaker and it seemed to run fine. Today my wife smelled something burning. I pulled the AC into the house and the wires behind the control panel were on fire. What do I do now.

Direct drive whirlpool washer has electrical odor and stops.

the burn odour and stoppage an electrical fault and coupled with a 20 amp circuit breaker tripping indicates a motor fault
Capacitors are tested with an capacitance tester and not an ohm meter as ohms is a resistance and not capacitance reading
When breakers activate it indicates a massive short or current draw and the problem could be in the windings of the motor
could be water getting into the motor at times causing the intermittent problem
I would suggest that you call in a service technician or an accredited electrician to check out the machine properly

Noise and burning smell from heater

Yeah.
Pine needles get into the heater box and clog the heater fan motor's "fan".
You also may have rodents in there, making nests.
The wife was smart to turn off the heater fan B-4 the fuse blew.

The oven had a burning smell to it and then the fuse blew. At this stage, I cannot flip the fuse back on without it blowing within a second. Any thoughts?

It sounds like somethin did burn, likely a wire, and it has "gone to ground" and tripped the breaker. If the breaker will only reset momentarily, it is doing it's job, and it is telling you that a hazard exists. It is probably time to call a serviceman, or someone who is comfortable with appliance repair. Good luck, Rob

Kenmore Dishwasher - Wife Having Meltdown

Get under the sink and pull the plug. Let it sit for a half an hour or so. While you wait make sure all the drain screens etc. are clean. Usually unplugging will reset board. Kind of like a reboot on a computer. I hope this works usually does if something else major isn't wrong.

Loud Pop, blown Breaker

Pull the unit away from the wall and inspect from rear. However, if all is fine, perhaps you simply overloaded the circuit that once. Were you running any other appliances (overhead microwave) at the same time?
