The easiest way to unlock your Android smartphone now is to completely reset it. Doing so will erase all your settings and files that are not stored on the memory card.
Depending on the model and maker of your smartphone (Samsung, HTC, LG etc.) the procedure might be slightly different but the idea is to enter tAndroid Recovery Mode and wipe all data + cache.
For example, to enter Recovery Mode on Samsung Galaxy S2 you need to:
1. Turn off the phone
2. Press Volume Up + Power button until it starts (here is the key difference. The keys needed to be pressed are different. Search on google for [SMARTPHONE_NAME] recovery menu ex: HTC Desire HD recovery menu, Samsung Galaxy S3 recovery menu, etc)
3. The Recovery Mode should show up in some seconds
4. Using the volume keys, select Wipe Data / Factory Reset and press menu or power to select.
5. Select "yes" using the same navigation as from step 4.
6. After resetting, it will return to main recovery screen. Do the same for cache partition
7. After cache partition reset is done, select Reboot
8. Phone reboots and now you'll have to set everything up again, but at least the password is removed.
