Canon powershot A 520 Not powering up.

I have a canon powershot A520 digital camera, i don't have any idea what my son did to it, but it stopped working, every time i turn it on, the zoom is supposed to come out , but it does not.it is make some noise inside ,like i have tried everything without success. can you please help me.

- the display is not working, usually it goes together with the zoom , whenever the zoom comes out when started the display comes on simultaneously.

if the display is working ..try to take a look into the menu and see if you find something like battery type ...it usually has 2 ways...alkaline....and something else
you can also try to fin a default reset and try from there
