How to thread the overlocker My lock 134

Look in the instruction book, or on the threading diagram printed on the machine. You will see it when you open the panel on the right (the door that swings down when you thread the serger).

Adjusting tension on overlocker

overlockers and sergers are annoying in that every time you change materials and threads they must be re-tensioned.

Get a scrap piece of material. Thread your machine correctly according to the instructions in your manual. If no manual most sergers are threaded, upper looper, lower looper then needles from right to left. Make sure you thread with the presser foot UP.

You want to balance the stitches Begin by adjusting the looper dials, you want them to meet right at the cut edge. Then adjust your needles. Keep doing test seams until you have them balanced. If you are a novice... try threading with each thread point having it's own color. That will help you identify which thread is giving you fits.

Have fun.

After threading the machine and beginning to overlock, the loopers threads are snapping. Please help. I have tried rethreading, re placing needles and it is still doing it

have you checked the tension on the looper thread to make sure it's not to tight

are there any burrs on the loopers or in the area of the loopers where the thread come in contact with the thread?

From the problems presented with the Janome 634D,I THINK I WOULD BE BETTER OFF BUYING A SINGER THAN SPENDING MONEY TRYING TO GET THIS SECOND HAND 634D UP AND RUNNING PROPERLY,iTS EXTREMELY HARD TO THREAD...

Seriously, after a freindspent a lot of time trying to thread the 634D,and she knows overlockers,I'm convinced its a waste of time, despite the fact that it is fixable and still in good working order,I have seen how uncomplicated her singer overlocker is and much easier to use in every way, So I have resolved to buy one, which means my problem with the 634D is solved..Thank you anyway.. Janome 184D - thread tension

You may need to purchase a Gathering Attachment
Part No. 200 217 101

BUT be sure it is suitable for your model first
(I am unsure which one you have)

Thread tensions are set at manufacture to all = 3 for standard work, your manual is generally helpful for many answers.

The "Janome Overlocker Sewing Guide" is a very detailed publication and has this to say about Gathering without any additional attachment.

Janome 134D Overlocker

Set you differential at 1.0 and your loopers at about 3-4 the needle thread tensions are usually around 5 to 6.
I would also suggest that you place four different color threads on machine to make it easier to adjust all. Now if you are using only 3 threads the same applies.
 Also------patience.
