Take the batteries out of the remote control, then apply a piece of black tape over the IR sensor, Unplug the power, wait a few minutes, now power the unit back up, does the unit still have the same volume high symptom? If so, remove the tape and see if the unit responds to any other commands(other than volume) from the front panel. If it responds to the panel controls, the processor is most likely good. very seldom is the IR transistor bad, if it is no input command will work.
Hello MrBrokeit,
Shotgunning works sometimes, but the effort spent is often not worth the time spent. Let me explain if your power supply is defective then shotgunning will produce results, however if the problem is elsewhere you will never know it. I would suggest troubleshooting the unit, to determine where the problem really is. For this task I would suggest that you get a schematic diagram of the unit, a multimeter, and an oscilloscope. use the schematic to find the various test points, use the multimeter to measure the voltages at the test points, and then use the oscilloscope to measure the signals at the test points. Troubleshooting in this fashion will produce better results than as with the shotgun method. I would suggest checking for ripple voltage in the DC path. This voltage is due to AC bleed over from poor regulation by malfunctioning filter capacitors. you will not see physical signs of the problem but a quick check of the capacitors will let you know if the is the problem. Also check to see if the DC voltage across the positive terminal of the capacitor is held at the level it should be at. Then check all points on the power supply and compare them to the schmatic.
Thank you,

The test mode display is activated through the test mode command: *3001#12345#.
Once you enter this command, you are given a list of options, including
'Field Test'. Select Field Test and then hit 'Enabled'. You must power
down the phone and power it up again to get out of the test mode menu.
The test mode screens may vary somewhat between different firmware
versions and providers.
Once you power up the phone you are given a new menu choice at location
10 called 'Field Test'. There are several different test mode screens.
Type in a test number to get the screen listed below. Alternatively you
may use the arrow buttons to move between the 199 different field test
screens. Entering test number '0' will disable the test mode, but will
still allow you to access the test menu.
If you are using the field test mode and are unsure what the screens
mean then hold down the # key for about four seconds to get a brief
description of the screen. Repeat holding the # key to return to the
test mode values. Thanks to L. Tee for this tip
If you would like to see what is behind the test mode screen then
keyguard the phone, wait until the 'press unlock and then *' screen
disappears, and then press one of the numeric keys to see the regular
screen. Thanks to L. Tee for this tip
Note: If you make or receive calls while in test mode, you may not be
able to change the speaker volume. To turn off the field test mode you
can select field test '0' or enter a few digits and then clear these
digits.
There is some post`s on net:similar with yours: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/339796-33-samsung-syncmaster-s27a550h-flashing.
I have repeared some of this problems ,try this:
hold the power button and plug in ac power.and wait 5-6 sec.
try the combinations with power and menu buttons and plug the ac cord and wait 5-6 sec.
The monitor in your case is in service mode or test mode .
The other options is to change the firmweare of the monitor but you need moore tools for that.
My Sansa Fuze sometimes goes to the White Screen of Death too-- 1) Turn it on, get the white screen, then hold the 'off' button in the up position for up to 20 seconds to force it off. Wait 20 more seconds, then turn it on again.
2) You may have to reformat your player-- If you have a copy of the 'Sansa Updater' software on your computer, page 17 of the user manual says that reformatting the player is possible through commands from your computer. If your player is recognized by the computer, this could also work.
Try dumping the RAM. To do this press the power button and then hold "Command, Option, P, R" before the gray screen appears. Then the computer will 'bing' and restart. Wait until it has 'binged' twice then let go.
You may need to reset the PRAM. Start your computer and hold down the option, command (apple), P and R keys simultaneously until you hear the second chime. Then release.
This will reset the perimeter RAM (PRAM) and may allow your system to start, which it will do immediately if it capable. If this is not the case and you have already tried removing the RAM and the HD, you may need to have the motherboard tested.
Disconnect any devices connected to the computer including printers, hubs, and third-party keyboards or mice, and test the computer again by trying to turn it on.
Press the control key, the command key, and the power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer.
If that does not work :
Reset the PRAM and NVRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
