Question about Uniden Cordless Phone
I just bought this phone this morning. It was on clearance; marked down to 2/3 the regular price. Now, I am wondering if the reason is because it's a lemon. After charging the handsets, I took them out of the charger, as recommended on another forum. It was only about an hour later when I noticed that both handsets had the message Line in Use on their screens. I used my cell phone to dial the handset, and it went straight to my voice mail message. I then fooled around with it for a few minutes until I decided to try to call my cell phone from one of the handsets. That seemed to work as far as clearing the glitch, but, I am a little nervous now about whether I should keep this phone. If I hadn't accidentally noticed that message, my calls would all still be going straight to voice mail. I read about other problems with this phone on other websites. I always research before I buy something, but, this was an impulse buy because it was such a good price, and I needed a new phone.
To get a line you have to have the handsets in the stands or you have to use the end button to close the call
the phone stands are the battery charger and need the handsets need to there all the time-- unless answering a call --the operation is
all the handsets are in the stands being charged
a phone call comes in by lifting a handset to answer, the call is connected automatically without pressing the talk button
on finishing the call you press end but if you do not replace the handset in the stand but leave it say on the table , when you get another call you have to press the talk button to be connected as it was not picked up from the charger stand and so will not connect automatically when one handset is talking , all the other handsets can listen in and if one call is not ended , there is a line in use sound and no line
it is all in the owners manual and if you didn't get the manual , go google and down load it from the manufacturers web page as a pdf version for printing

The base unit should not need a charge. It should be powered by the plug in adapter. It may have a battery to keep operation for a short time in a power outage. The adapter may be loose, the adapter could be broken or the plug in the phone may be broken.

Follow the Ring Time instructions in the "Using the Answering System" section beginning on page 15 of the manual.
