Detergent drawer won't lock - Electrolux EIFLW55HIW Front Load Washer with IQ-Touch Controls

1. Open the detergent drawer.
2. Press the release lever (A) on the inside of the detergent drawer and pull the detergent drawer out at the same time.

Pull the drawer out as far as it goes then lift it up and pull it out completely. It may be stacked due to detergent remainings.
So, you should clean the drawer with a soft brush under warm running water. Do not put the drawer into a dishwasher!
Replace the drawer by tilting it into position.

Just put the soap powder directly into the washing machine and let it run from there.... sometimes that is easier than trying to clear the problem. :)

Hello royal37 - Hi - The dispenser drawer could either be cracked or have a broken latch due to interference between the drawer front and top panel. Contact a professional to move forward accurately and might possibly need to order a service kit (PN: 137146000/part number may be different depending on your model number).

Try disconnecting power from wall for a few minutes and this should reset the machine. Make sure this is done after or before you start a washing cycle. Most electronic washers can be reset by removing the power cord from the wall and allow upto 10 mins to disengage memory and this might reset the drawer mechanism

Something has jammed the drawer closed. You will need to access the top of the dispenser.
Remove the 2 screws holding the top lid in back. Slide the top lid rearward and remove.
Pry open the top of the dispenser top and using a small screwdriver, unsnap the lid snaps.
This will release the drawer and you can clean out any debris that caused it to jam up.

Pull the dispenser drawer out until it stops.

Step 2 Reach into back right corner of the drawer opening and press the lock tab to release the drawer. Pull the drawer fully out of the washer.

Step 3 Lift the fabric softener dispenser cup out of the drawer.

Step 4 Run the fabric softener dispenser cup under warm water while rubbing it with a soft cloth or sponge.

Step 5 Place the cup back in the drawer and slide it back into the washer.

Remove the top of the washer by removing the 2 retaining screws (phillips head) from the back of the unit & sliding the washer top back about 2" & pulling up. You will see a white detergent dispenser box with several hoses coming off the back in the left front of the unit (this box contains the detergent drawer). The lid to this box is held on by 8 pressure snap clips. You only need to release the 4 snap clips (3 large, 1 small at the rear) on the right side of the box (nearest the washer drum). Pull up on the right side of the lid while pulling out on the detergent drawer. It should come out normally. Do not reassemble until you read below, then reverse the steps to put the washer back together.

The problem will be the "softener" lid (blue). It will not be sitting down in the drawer assembly & will catch on the lid of the white detergent dispenser box. Simply remove the blue lid to avoid future jambs. It only serves to identify the fabric softener recepticle & it keeps fabric softener from splashing around when water enters the system. You may need to remove the entire detergent drawer periodically to clean (push down on the blue thumb indent inside the drawer to release it from the housing).

Hope this keeps you from drilling through the lid & ruining a $23 part, like I did.

some machines have a drop down drawer lock on the front bottom edge of the drawer , it is usualy held up by a screw
