First, check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.

If they are o.k.,then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Usea Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit abd replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Chainsaw issue

What is the model number of the saw?

It may as simple as a tank vent that is clogged. I have seen this on Poulan saws, and many of the new Craftsman saws are rebranded Poulans.

If the saw has a tiny hole in the center of the fuel cap, try this test. Engage the chain brake, turn the saw on its side so the cap is facing upward, loosen the cap slightly, and start it while a strong helper holds it on a workbench. If it runs normally (don't heat up the clutch drum while the brake is engaged!), the tank vent needs to be cleaned or cap replaced. If it still won't run correctly, it is time to diagnose the carburetor and other areas of the engine.

Let me know if you have any luck getting it going.

You have to take the bowl nut off he bottom of the bowl and clean it with a small wire or torch cleaners. Try not to allow the bowl to drop off the carb, the float drops down and the needle might come off the float.

Craftsman 16'' chainsaw, start with very high rpm, how to adjust ?

The H is for when your cutting,it keeps the saw from stalling. The L, is for the saw when at Idle. When the L ,is adjusted right, the saw should stay running ,and the chain should not move ,that is with the break in the off position. The H screw, should be adjusted if the saw bogs down when rev ed up. A good starting point for theses screws would be a turn and one half out.
