Fisher and Paykel Active Smart® -E402B

Active Smart, beeping about every twelve hours, indicates fault in top refridgerator compartment, evaporator in freezer icing up heavily, have manually defrosted, both fans operated when bench tested. What components should I replace?

Are there any other different opinions on the solution to this problem. Do you replace both sensors in the fridge and in the freezer?

Good day

You freezer sounds like the self defrosting function has failed. If the evaporater coil freezes up, it gets really cold, but the air in the top of the freezer gets warm, so you could have stuff towards the top of the compartment melting, while the bottom is super cold. The heating element, thermal limit switch, or the timer could be bad. I am not particularly familiar with this model, but most have a little timer motor mounted behind the toe kick somewhere that contrlos the defrost intervals. The timer sends power through the thermal limit switch, located on the inlet tube of the evaporater (coils that get cold in the freezer) and keeps the heater from over heating. This part is probably the most common failure. From the switch, power goes to the heater element, which is mounted directly to the evaporater. If the heater looks kind of like a bake element style (similar to what you'd find in the bottom of your oven) then its probably not bad. If its a glass tube style, then they fail more commonly. Hope this helps, good luck! P.S. this could all have been caused by a door left slightly ajar overnight too...if you think that may have happened, then just turn it off and leave the door open for a day or 2...it'll defrost and be fine!

Hope I helped with the repair of your problem.
An Accept from you is how I get paid.
And a positive feed back tells me how I did with the repair.

Regards,
Arjun.

It seems that your thermostat failed to control the temp. or it was set to the max cold. check or try reset the temp. if still unsolved try change the thermostat.

I have a fisher & paykel active smart fridge the fridge part freezes everything and wont stop beeping when door open

Your fridge is telling you there is a fault, i'd say one of the 2 fans are not working. If everything is freezing in the bottom of the food compartment then the upper fan is faulty. You have to remove the shelves & remove the rear panel, the fan is in the shute at the bottom, remove, repair the broken wire or replace. Make sure unit is unpluged.

Uneven cooling in fridge and annooying alarm every 10 hours!

Hi,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

thanks,
