My 450c suddenly developed a problem with the cartridge light flashing,I've tried changing the 4 catridges cleaning and pressing all the buttons to no avail I can't get the machine to do anything.Has...

John I suspect that the cartridge light is flashing too. Raise the cover to service the print cartridges, remove one cartridge at a time and reinsert it. While doing that watch the ready light. It should blink 3 times even with the lid raised to acknowledge a good cartridge. If one by one all the cartridges give 3-flash ready lights then the problem may not be cartridges or they may not be primed.

The 430 ID is B/W, you need to load the 450C driver to get color, renaming the driver isn't enough.

Is your ready light on as well? If so this may indicate that the "mark encoder" is not detected.The mark encoder is the white plastic piece on the left end of the large black roller that the paper feeds around.If the encoder is very dirty,then cleaning may help.If not, carriage usually has to be replacved, I have heard of some that paint over the mark encoder with white out before replacing the carriage. Don't think I would try it but....Hope this helps.

Plotter only printing in Cyan

Check your black cartridge. Do the pump the cartridge thing with the plunger on the left of the plotter. Check all the electrical connectors on the cariage and the cartridge - clean with water -or wd40 if you are very careful and check that all the contacts, about 40 of them are clean and undamaged on each cartridge. Replace with known working cartridges. run a color test as specified in the manual -- hp has relased the manual for this printer as they no longer service this unit.

Data light and Cartridge light stays on

Clean off cartridge contacts on printer carriage where carts sit and contacts on cartridges-if they sit for long periods of time they clog up.
you will probably need new cartridge{s}
start with black and go from there.

Hp designjet 450c error lights

Take all cartridges out while the plotter is on,then re-insert them one by one and watch the ready light flash after each insertion.If it doesn't flash that could mean 2 things,either the cartridge is bad or the contacts on the carriage are dirty or the entire carriage needs replacing.
I tell all of my dj-4XX customers to check the spittoon assembly(on the inside,right side)for ink buildup. If it looks clogged,you can temporarily scoop the ink that solidified out,but eventually it(spittoon)will need replacing.
Hope this helps

Check the cable connections, and the cable connector inside the plotter. Make sure your cables are good.
