Can't I just plug the San Disc into the front of my Dell computer in the card slot? If so then what do I do?

It will not format a 4gb SanDisk SD card

Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. The DX6490 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to go with SD cards 2GB and smaller.

UNABLE TO ACCESSMY 4GB MICRO SD CARD

Your memory card reader lacks SDHC compatibility. You must either update your pc card reader to one which is compliant with SDHC or use a cheap external card reader to do the job.

SD and SDHC cards look the same and fit the same slots, but they have significant technical differences which older readers cannot handle.

Format 4gb sandisk sdhc card to be compatible with tom tom go 510

  1. Format the card in your PC's card reader as Fat32
  2. Insert the card in your TT, turn on your TT, connect your TT to your PC, and from your PC find the drive letter that corresponds to your SDHC card
  3. Now format the card in your TomTom using Windows - don't worry if it formats to a lower capacity.
  4. Turn off your TT, remove the card, place in your card reader
  5. Format your card using "Quick Format"

Will not let me listen to music stored on sd card

Hi, how dit you format the SD card. It should be formatted as Fat32 before you store music on it. If the card does not showup in the browser there is an issue with the format. In some instances the card could be incompatible with the zumo. So format it first (Fat32), copy some mp3 files to it (id use 128 kbps mp3's to start off with) plug it in and see what happens. If nothing, try a different brand/size card. I use 4GB SDHC card made bij sandisk without issues.
