Possibly the wrong driver update was installed. I would go to the device manager page, remove the monitor drivers restart your pc, and it will automatcially reinstall the original drivers for the monitor.

This is caused by unintentional pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the down arrow key.
Restore by pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the up arrow key.
To change the display from portrait to landscape
Press Ctrl-Alt plus a left or right arrow key.
