Question about Computers & Internet

The Avermedia has been uninstalled and cannot reinstall

I lost the icon on my computer for the CCTV system. It disappeared from desktop and my programs. So I rather cleverly [not] decided to uninstall and then reinstall the whole thing. But EVERY TIME I type in the passwordand user number from the sleeve of the CD as instructed it tells me it is not right. The prompt is 'Company'  I have no idea why it asks for this since this is a home system.I have typed in my administration name and password here, but it tells me that is wrong. Then my adminstrators name only, that is wrong, then the key numbers that is wrong i have left it blank and just entered user identification/password from the cover of the CD and that is wrong as well! I need help, i hope this will be a very simple matter for you??

Sometimes software will make you fill in all the blanks before your stuff is "right: or to move forward.  So put in "none" for company ... see if it makes any difference.

My Skype disappeared

Do you mean, you've uninstalled it? or was the icon lost from desktop?

First open "My Computer", then "C:" drive and again "All Programs" and locate a folder with the name "Skype" open it and again open the "Phone" folder, double-click the "Skype" icon you find there, if you want it to shown again on the desktop, right click, "Send to" and then "Desktop(Create shortcut)" it, close the window, now it should be there on the desktop. You can run it by clicking it again.

If you can't find it anywhere, you better reinstall it. Click here and download the skype, and after it's downloaded, run the program. You are done with it, all your contacts and IM's will be intact, there's nothing to worry about.

If you need further help, let me know with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Acer crystal eye webcam icon lost and can't be found

The fastest way of fixing it just reinstalling the driver. here's the link
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Intel_11.5.1.8_Vistax64Vistax86_A.zip?acerid=633958596890069624&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%206920&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6

After you download it and run it. It would probably tell you If you want to uninstall instead of install. Uninstall, restart the computer and run the software again to reinstall. It should fix your issue. I hope this helps.

Why "print and fax" icon disappearing from my mac "system preferences" window ? Right now instead of showing "system preferences icon!"(name didn't change! only the icon). So i can't add new printer, even...

Hello, it seems like your system has a corrupted preference file, or something has been deleted. For best results, I would recommend to do an update of your system. If this doesn't work, you can try to repair the systems permissions in Applications --> utilities --> disk utility, and hit "SOS" and select your drive then click on "repair permissions". Reboot the computer.
If this doesnt help, I would recommend to reinstall the system using the Leopard DVD

AVG will no install error 0x800736b1 also retrirve my desktop

Hi there. My name is Alex and Im here to help solve your problem

First of all, AVG has always had a problem installing when windows updates are enabled and download and install automatically. I would recommend uninstalling all updates that have been installed to your computer and disable automatic updates which I will explain to you below

To uninstall the updates.
Click start, settings and click control panel.
On the icon add and remove programs, please double click
You will now see all the programs and updates installed on your computer. The microsoft updates are located near to the bottom of the list and there may be a lot of them installed. You can only uninstall one update at a time. You may be prompted that uninstalling a windows update may cause a program not to work properly, this is normal so you can continue uninstalling them. When you have uninstalled these updates please restart your computer.

To disable the automatic updates

Right click on your icon My computer or My pc which is located on the desktop or on the start menu (if you are running windows xp) and select properties
You will then see a sub menu called 'Automatic updates' and inside this menu you will have the choice to disable the updates

If you are using windows xp and you have system restore enabled on your computer, then you will be able to take the computer back to an earlier time when it was working correctly. Please save all documents first to insure that nothing will be lost if you decide to do a 'system restore'. There is a very friendly wizard to help you restore your computer. You can get to the system restore by clicking start, programs, accesories, system tools and selecting system restore.

Regarding your problem about your desktop disappearing, to restore your icons on the desktop, right click anywhere on the desktop and select organise icons and be sure that the heading 'show desktop icons' is ticked. This will restore your desktop items

Last of all try installing AVG, if you still experience problems with this issue, then please let me know. Im happy to help
