Door Latches Broken on Sharp R-3E68 Mic...

Hi!

In 1998 I purchased a Sharp microwave oven model R-3E68  (850/900W 25L) from a shop in New Jersey that specialized in appliances that could be used overseas, since I was moving to the country of Norway where the voltage is 240.

I believe the microwave was produced somewhere in Asia/Southeast Asia.  (The display and user manual include several of the languages from this region.)

Recently the plastic door latch component basically disintegrated and fell out and I can't close the door, much less use the oven, which is otherwise working just fine.

Is there any way to find a door for the oven? They don't sell Sharp microwaves in Norway, much less have service.

Thanks for any help.

I think it's a Hong Kong model.

Normally you can find Sharp's specific country page by entering one of two URL formulas, but replacing the xx with the two-letter country code of that nation:

http://www.sharo.co.xx
http://www.sharp.com/xx

Sharp Hong Kong is at http://www.sharp.com/uk

Look for a customer service or contact link, then see if they have a parts link. If not, you'll have to call or e-mail.

If that fails, you can take a few high-quality photos of the part you need and I may be able to cross it.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

- Obviously http://www.sharo.co.xx should have been http://www.sharp.co.xx

- Not batting a thousand tonight... the Hong link is actually http://www.sharp.com.uk
