Question about Gateway GT5408 PC Desktop
I had the same similiar code 39 pop up too. Once I opened the my computer folder there was no CD Drive. under my device manager the littler yellow triangle was there on the device. Before that I did see a blue screen flash before my eyes then the problem started with the code 39. I followed the steps that you posted to delete the upper and lower stuff and restarted the computer. IT WORKED. I even called Gateway Tech and chatted with them online. They said they could not help with the driver issue since it was a system problem, lol. Anyway my warranty ran out, but that should of not stopped them from giving me advice as I have found here. It saved me money on not buying an external CD DVD Drive for my PC.
It Works now!!!
How did you know where to go to fix the problem?
What caused the problem to begin with?
Will this affect the performance now?
I have six gateway desk tops in the house now.thats all i buy and some dell newer stuff.
gateway charges a fee after the warranty exspires.joke huh:?

Tips for a great answer:
Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps you
you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
hope this helps
