First step is to let it drain completely and then plug it in once fully dead to see if it resets itself and clears the problem. If that doesn't work the next step Soft Reset: Plug it in to the computer. If the computer recognizes it you can likely reset it. to do that push and holding the back and up buttons together. Hard Reset: this will erase the information on your zune and restore it to factory settings with no information on it. Your information will be re-synced when you plug it back in to your comptuer. http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/zuneplayers/solvingproblems/reinstallplayer.htm
I had a similar problem with my 30GB Zune. The first normal solution is to make sure that the USB port is providing enough power to the Zune to charge it by trying a different port or computer, but since your other Zune charges it is likely not the problem.
Other possibly solutions are performing a hard reset on the Zune (hold back and up until it resets), or allowing the zone to completely discharge and try again. In my case, none of these solutions worked and I was forced to send my Zune in for a new battery, which Microsoft was willing to replace for free.
The Zune website has the Zune software which must be downloaded for your computer to communicate with your Zune.
And when you connect your Zune to your computer it should begin charging (as I'm assuming this is a new device).
If you have already installed the software I would assume the low battery was slowing the communication between your Zune and your computer.
If you Zune is fully charged and the software is fully installed try plugging the USB cable into a different port. Sometimes the Zune and the connector USB isn't automatically sensed on certain ports and certain moments.
try restarting it. the process should be in your paper menu thing that you got with your zune(for future reference). press hold and the back button. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946064 that is the website if you need a diagram of which buttons. good luck! please rate! =]
man i have the same problem, i was listening to my black 120gb Zune & i just upgraded to firmware 3.0 & now this s*** wont turn on! i been using it 3 days fine, but now it just shut off like its completely dead. i have been charging it for hours & hours & it just doesnt even turn on or have a battery icon or anything! i have it plugged in now too. restarted the computer, everything.... i tried to restart it by pressing back & up... are there any other shortcuts i can try? computer doesnt detect it or ANYTHING!!! HELLLLLP
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
I turned on my Zune and the screen froze so I turned it off but it would not turn back on.
I went online and read somewhere that if the screen freezes then you should press up and back and wait for the zune insignia to come on. Well my zune was not just frozen it would not go on but I tried the up and back thing and it worked. it took about 9-13 seconds but it worked so give it a chance and if that doesn't work try charging it overnight. Hope that helps :D
