Sounds like a touch pad circuit board problem. There is no easy way to solve the problem. If your microwave still has warranty better phone GE right away. If its out of warranty, bring it to a local appliance repair shop. sorry mate.

GE microwave display f3 I set clock every thing works for a time then it starts by it self

"F3" means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

For some models, you can order the keypad separately and replace it.

We can do that for you, but if you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

For some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.
That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

My GE JVM1540 microwave keypad does not work. There is power to the unit, the display reads "press start" but the keypad does not work

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes and try again.

If it still fails, you would probably have a bad door switch or mount or a bad "start" pad on your membrane keypad.

See these files first:

http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt

Once you look those over, if you still need help, please reply back with the full model number from the tag in or on your unit.

Keypad number buttons not working on ge spacesaver microwave - auto program buttoms work?

Very angry. Fairly new, little-used Spacesaver Microwave [3][Clock][Surface Light] buttons now do not work. We never even press [3], just [1] and [2] to warm sandwiches.
Unplugged for an hour. Still not working. Everything else works. We never use anything else. Bad solder joint in circuit board or keypad?
Thank you.

The touch pad on the microwave lights up, but will not respond when any of the keys are touched.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If it still will not accept key input, your membrane keypad has failed.

Depending on your specific model number, the membrane keypad may be available separately, or you may have to order the control panel frame, which comes with a new keypad.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Let me know if I can help further.

The 'turntable on' feature does not work it reverts to 'turntable off' each times it is set. Please advise

If the display is changing by itself despite your pressing the turntable pad, i would say the turntable pad is failing on the keypad.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Then if it still fails, you may have a failing keypad.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

GE Microwave displaying --F3--

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorting keypad / controls.

There's a chance it can come on by itself and run unattended, which can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open.

On this model, the keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to replace the entire controller assembly.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you disconnect the wires and install the new controller.

You can order part number WB07X10903 here for $114.37 (compare that to $174.75 direct from GE!).

Seems like microwave is locked on clock

You have to set a time (any time) to use.

Press CLOCK, press number 2 then 2 then 2 again and then press CLOCK again. Does it say 2:22?

Everything should now work.

Do not run Empty, do not use any metal in there and do not use alot (MW kills all the vitamins and nutrition in food - like eating MUD for your body) .... and don't forget to reset the CLOCK ;-)

Keys on the GE microwave are not working

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

If that doesn't fix it, you have a failing keypad.

That part is not available separately, so you would have to order the control panel assembly, which includes the plastic frame with the keypad already mounted on it.

While GE charges $175.25 for this, you can get it for only $109.26 here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
