Question about AOpen MK77M-II Motherboard

Unable to install Windows xp

Dear friend,
I used Aopen -MK77M-II Motherboard with Samprom 2400+ Processor, 256 MB DDR ram, 40 GB Hitachi Harddisk. If i try to install Windows Xp SP2. it will load, after "Ready to Starting Windows" message appeared it will hang.
But i can able to install Windows 98, Me but not Xp & 2000. I upgraded my bios also. I change RAM, Data cable also. but not correct.

Please tell me the solution.

If you can afford it i'd look at trying another stick of 256 or a new 512 stick, XP doesn't really like anything under 512 and it pretty much won't run at all with 128, so if you can get it cheaply try that first if that doesn't fix it let me know

Ddr or ddr2??

your RAM memory is not DDR2 It is DDR1 so if you want to upgrade you should buy DDR1 RAM .

Yeah maybe but it gonna be SLOW so I dont recommend it. you should have a better computer.

Trying to play Battlefield 1942

on win 2000 some games will only work if you download mozilla
but i would first do a win update and update my internet explorer
and directx

Ram selection?

Your motherboard supports max of 2 GB PC 2100 RAM. Hope this helps.

RAM cuantity

The motherboard you mentioned supports DDR1 RAM.

For windows xp and general application 512 MB is enough.
But if you use memory intensive applications like image/video editing then you can opt for 1-2 GB RAM.

The maximum RAM or memory that this MOBO can supports is up to 2 GIG so you can go ahead upgrade the memory , check also this link for the information

Changing motherboard

Since both boards use the same chipset (Intel 845), you shouldn't have any problem with components. (The one possible glitch will be the memory - some motherboards are a little picky.)
Keep in mind that you will likely have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall your operating system and programs, but sometimes you get lucky. (Even then, if you're running Windows XP, Microsoft is likely to ask you to reactivate.)
