Making a bench machine on the tyan dual core pentium III mother board

Keep on rebooting. Screen shows error so fast cannot read clearly. Machine hanged once during installation of XP professional. Retry OK. But does not show mouse pointer. Change to an usb mouse, mouse work OK. But keyboard does not work. After that machine keeps on rebooting. I use fast NTFS format. Hard drive problem is suspected?

If you had no problems installing the XP second time around your problem is definitely not the harddrive. Suspect that that error you got was a blue screen. You problem most probably lies with your memory modules (RAM) if you are using more than one memory module then you need to check that they work on the same frequency (probably not since you are having this problem) If you are in fact using more than one module try just using one. If you only have one then you might try another as this one could be faulty. As to NTFS it is the best suitable format for XP therefore that is not a problem. Let me know how things turn out. Thanks

Graphics support is mainly determine by the mother board. based on the processor you have that mother board should be equipped with a PCI express slot. in that case YES it is Supported. make shure you follow installation instructions and check that you have at least the minimum power supply requirements for the card 380W or above.

Gigabyte mother board ga-6bx7+

You might have damaged the CPU/ motherboard during the process of overclocking.

Check your CPU on other compatible mobo.

Check your mobo documentation properly & set the jumpers rightly. If that doesn't help, you will have to replace the mobo.

The 4X override and fast-writes can't be supported totally in XP..........

first check the bios version and tyan's compatability site for the video cards support...

if all checks well and the bios has been updated ...

then: try running a ps/2 mouse and verify the usb components is not the error....

be sure you have support for 1.0 and 1.1 usb activated for a mouse support.. and keyboard mouse options on in the bios...

is it a mouse error ... or video card error... check for updates on the manufacturers of the mouse if usb...

Making a bench machine on the tyan dual core pentium III mother board

Rebooting is tipical of Windows XP when there is an important error. Most of the time this error is coming from the hardware.
There is a way to know the error code that make Windows XP mad, but you have to eliminate the automatic restart option.
With your mouse right click on My Computer, select properties, select advanced and you should see something similar:
deselect Automatically restart.
At this point next time you will have the error instead of rebooting you will see a blue screen with some message at the top and some code at the bottom, please write them down and post them here.

In case you cannot even enter in Windows XP because is keeping rebooting too fast, try to do the above steps in Safe mode.
To enter in Windows in Safe mode you have to press F8 as soon as you boot and before you see the windows logo on you screen, then select safe mode and repeat the steps above.
Last but not least, please send me the exact type of motherboard, processor and memory that you are using.
