Sure sounds like your power supply has a short and should be replaced.

My Emerson Microwave MW9117W has lost power and was wondering if there was a fuse or something that needed replacing

There are fuses inside. The big thing is to figure out why the fuse went bad. either something shorted and blew the fuse, or it got hot and went bad due to bad connections at fuse holder. or maybe a bad door switch blew the fuse. I have also had fuses just get old and tired., and just needed to be replaced.

Hi, Sam you have a dead short which is usually the easiest to find. Using a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder, start probing the wire leaving the fuse holder about an inch away the test light should illuminate, keep probing towards the ignition switch until the test light no longer illuminates you are now very close to the short. For more information about your issue, please visit the websites below. Good luck and have a nice day.

My microwave stopped working all of a sudden. Heard a pop sound and it stopped.

Could be a capacitor or a diode and I imagine the fuse blew too.
Does the clock work? If not the fuse has blown. You have to take off the cover. Take the screws out of the back and sides and pull backwards on the cover until it comes off then there should be a fuse in a holder near where the power cord comes in. Don't forget to unplug the unit. Some microwaves have the fuse in a plastic holder right in the wire. the fuse will look like a small tube with metal ends and only replace with the same type of fuse, about 15 amps. the amps will be on the fuse, look close on the metal ends.Put in new fuse and try again if it blows again you need to have someone with experience look at it.

Display not lighting up at all

The display / control units are sensitive to voltage surges and it was most likely damaged when the fuse blew.

When playing game, hear a pop ,screen then went blank found out fuse in plug blown replaced and fuse blew again . is there an internal fuse inside PS3

It needs a new power supply

Find out which version you have . For example " CECHxxxxx" or whatever
Then hit Ebay and find a replacement

There's one torx bit (#8 I think) screw under the cap on the top end

Then all the other screws are philips

Blown fuse on mine. replaced it and it blew again instantly upon power up. meter shows 7 amps flowing through fuse holder and this is only a 2 amp fuse. What else in the circuit would be causing it to draw...

We are talking about a subwoofer? Two causes. The Power supply and the Amp section. First power -transformer, rectifier, voltage regulator, big capacitors. Amp section whatever does all the work, often on a heat sink, most likely cause too!

HAier HVT12ABS wont turn on

I had the same problem. My 18-month old Haier HVT 12A wine cooler stopped working. I unplugged the unit, opened the back, and saw the circuit board and the two fuses soldered to the circuit board. The top fuse was OK. The bottom fuse, labelled FUSE2 5A/250V on the circuit board, was blown.

I went to Radio Shack and purchased a spring-loaded push and twist fuse holder ($3) and a bag of fuses (another $3). I soldered the leads from the fuse holder to the top and bottom of the dead fuse 2, inserted a new fuse, plugged it in, and it has been working fine ever since (1 month). If the new fuse fails, it is easy to replace. Total cost $6.

Blown fuse

Be doubly sure your microwave is unplugged first, of course! Be sure the fuse is not loose in the holder. If you can rotate it in the holder easily with just a thumb and finger, then it's too loose and the holder should also be replaced. That looseness causes a heat buildup, which makes the fuse melt open inside over time. If the new fuse blows as soon as you hit START then you likely have a shorted high-voltage capacitor. If it blows again a few seconds or minutes after you hit START, then you likely have a bad high-voltage transformer or magnetron. It's not inherently unsafe to replace a fuse, as long as you heed the safety rules. The microwave does contain and prodcue voltages that can be instantly lethal. If the fuse blew again then there is more than likely a problem with one or more of the boards components. First start by unscrewing the power supply and looking on the underside, you may see some burn marks. If you do then it is likely that the component above the burn marks has blown and needs to be replaced. If you do not see any burn marks then the best place to start is with the diodes on the board. If its still not working, e.g. the fuse blew again then it may be that the problem lies elsewhere on the power supply... Good luck.
