I am running Windows 8.1 on an Inspiron 15 64-bit machine. I need software for my Dell Pocket DJ 5GB. When I connct th DJ to the PC there's a tone as fo the PC recognizes the device. However, the device does not appear in My Computer. I doenloaded some drivers from the Dell site but they do not recognize the DJ. It's difficult to know which drivers are needed because there are several to choose. I also downloaded the Explorer but the device was not recognized either.

The Pocket DJ is not compatible with Windows 7 or Windows 10. If you plugged it into your computer and it did not recognize the device or show up in "My Computer' then it will not work. You would need a windows 7 and Windows 10 drivers.None are available..

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

Go to dell.com and enter the DJ's service tag ID on the back of your player on the support section. It will give you a list of drivers and software that you will need for your DJ. If you are running Vista, download the XP drivers. They will work fine.

From what I have read, yes, it charges via USB.

FYI, replacing the battery did not solve the problem of the battery refusing to charge. Instead, I've spent $30 at batteryship.com and since I've opened the battery I can't return it. There must be a software or hardware failure that's preventing the unit from charging the battery.

Try resetting it...or charge it fully
