Replaced cartridge on c4480 still getting error tht says incompatible print crtridge

I have replaced the black cartiridge on the printer and it is still staying incomptable print cartridge. The cartridge is a hp 74 black which i verified was good to use before purchasing

Is you have replaced Black Cartage is Refilled or New one

Well....I solved the problem......bought a new Canon printer!!

I tried everything...unplugging, cleaning everything that was mentioned above. I was onto HP online support several time, but they were absolutely no help at all...they basically told me that the cartridge must be damaged or ink dried up and to buy a new cartridge to see if the error persisted.....I don't think so!!!
I will never by HP again after having issues with the last two I have had. I love my new Canon printer it is EVERYTHING that HP wasnt.

Please you need to replace the cartridge, its probably a refill,get the original for it

This issue can often be fixed by reseating or cleaning the print cartridges. But if that doesn't work you can try the document in the link provided below and follow the troubleshooting steps. A workaround is also provided at the bottom of the document. If all the troubleshooting steps in this document have been followed and nothing works, I'm afraid the printer has to be serviced.

Hi,

If you are getting Incompatible ink cartridge error and These cartridges were replaced a year ago, I think its time you call them once again. ( 1-800-474-6836 ) and report the issue. They will ask you for the Cartridge details like part # and expiry date on the cartridge.

Have hp photosmart 4480...continues to give message that I'm using incompatible ink cartridges, that the alignment failed, that I may continue but cartridges are not calibrated for best print quality,...

C4480 all in one screen has an "incompatible print cartridge[s]" message. The same hp cartridges have been in the printer for a month, then 2 days ago get this message

Did any one remove the cartridge to check it, if so will need to initialize it to a used one otherwise check the numbers on the cartridge to ensure none were swapped.

What is a incompatible print cartridge? Its coming up with a warning exclamation mark and it wont print?

What is a incompatible print cartridge? The printer "Thinks" that the print cartridge, is NOT an original HP PhotoSmart one. Even print cartridge have chips.

Take out the print cartridge. Clean the points on the cartridge with cotton swab and try using it again.

Problem of incompatible cartridge occure in my new J 4580

i had the same problem with the hp 4580. i needed to replace the black ink which i did. then the error message appeared "incompatible print cartridge tri color"...chatted with hp customer support, wasted a hour. claimed its a hardware problem need to have it fixed. i asked would i be charge he said yes but the printer was under warranty. he asked other questions...bottom line i left the chat box....bought another hp 4580, used same cartridges, same message...THEN finally i replaced the color cartridge...and BAM! it worked on both printers. solution...replace the color cartridge...cons..if this happens again its a waste of money to keep buying the colored ink...
