Re: Deleting photos

Most digital cameras have a menu which will let you DELETE ALL or FORMAT the card or the internal memory (when the card is removed... many cameras have no internal memory).

You did not mention in the post what kind of camera you have. The small point and shoot Nikons all have an internal menu to either format or delete all the pictures or delete one at a time. Usually the one at a time delete can be accessed from any record mode when you go to the quick or review menu. The more detailed menu is accessed when the camera is in the record mode of any kind then go to the menu or setup menu, from there you will see the delete or erase all and the format card option.
Hope this helps.

How to delete multiple photos

You did not say which model Coolpix camera you have (there have been 168 models over the years) so I can only give you general information on deleting multiple photos; i.e., deleting all pictures in the memory.

On some models there are two buttons, usually the trash and one other button, labeled with a red dot. Depressing both buttons at the same time for a few seconds will erase everything. If your camera does not have that feature, the other method is to use the "delete all" menu function. Enter your camera's menus and scroll through them. You should find that function in the menus.

I strongly suggest that you follow the link at the bottom of this posting and download the manual for whichever model Coolpix you own for free. The Nikon's manuals all cover the process.

Kodak how to delete all pics and video

Assuming the pics and videos are on a memory card, format the memory card. Formatting instructions should be in the manual. If you require further assistance then please reply to this post and specify the model of your Kodak camera.

How do I reset the photo/frame numbers?

I'm afraid your camera can't set the photo count to 1.
At least the user manual does not show any possible hint how it could be done.

I deleted all my photos off my sandisk memory card but it's still full?

Try formatting the card. Deleting photos leaves the card fragmented, and if you go through several cycles of shooting and then deleting, cards can become all but unusable. You should format the card every time you finish download all your photos.

I had a full memory card. I transferred the pictures to my laptop and then deleted the originals (I dragged them to the trash from camera to computer) I turned on my camera and it still says memory...

OK, you could try try to format your card, rather than deleting the photos on the card, let me know if this doesn't work.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards

Deleting pictures from my camera jazz JDC31 Digital camera

Hi sjadl2840,

I presume you've already saved those pictures you want to keep in another location and you want to flush everything in the camera.

Typically, you have a button on the back with a little trash-can picture next to it. Pressing that will put you into Review/Delete mode. You will usually need to use the up/down/left/right arrow keys to navigate to select the photos you want to delete. Selecting the "OK" or "select" button will select that photo for deletion. You will typically have to confirm deletion for each photo, or before deleting all (if your camera provides that option in it's programming).

These instructions are somewhat generic; if they don't work for you, respond with a comment, and we can zero-in on your specific situation.

Beyond that, if I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance,

You will need to format the memory. Have a look at the manual for instructions or download from this link. The format instructions are on page 36

You will need to allow popups to show this page.

If it works don't forget to 'fixya'!!

Deleting unwanted pictures

I have two suggestions. First, you can tag a bunch of your photos on the camera, and then delete them in one operation. You can also delete all the photos on the camera in one operation. This is explained in the owner's manual on page 45 (can be downloaded from Deleting images 1. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the UP/ DOWN button and press the OK button. [Select] : Selection window for an image to delete is displayed. - Up/ Down/ Left/ Right : Select an image - Zoom T Button : Select the image for deletion. (V mark) - OK Button : Press the OK Button to display the confirmation message. Select the [Yes] menu and press the OK button to delete marked images. [All Pics] : Displays confirmation window. Select the [Yes] menu and press the OK button to delete all unprotected images. If there aren?t protected images, all the images are deleted and a [No Image!] message will display. 2. After deletion, the screen will be changed to the play mode screen. My alternative suggestion is to use a better program on your PC for downloading and organizing photos. You can get a really nice (and free!) one at When you download photos using this, it gives you the option of deleting the downloaded photos from the camera at the same time.
