Can find no assistance in the owner's manual regarding deleting photos other than the tedious one-at-a-time method. Any shortcuts?

How do I delete all photos at once instead of one by one.

Most digital cameras have a menu which will let you DELETE ALL or FORMAT the card or the internal memory (when the card is removed... many cameras have no internal memory).
You did not mention in the post what kind of camera you have. The small point and shoot Nikons all have an internal menu to either format or delete all the pictures or delete one at a time. Usually the one at a time delete can be accessed from any record mode when you go to the quick or review menu. The more detailed menu is accessed when the camera is in the record mode of any kind then go to the menu or setup menu, from there you will see the delete or erase all and the format card option.
Hope this helps.
