Question about Nikon Speedlight SB-600 TTL Flash
Does the flash turn on when you push the battery door down? By push it, I mean HARD... If so, you might be able to cure this by getting some jewelry screwdrivers and flexing IN the metal contacts in the battery compartment door to increase the battery contact.. just be careful not to break the metal (but if you do, a replacement battery cover is about $16)

I believe that there is a safety feature built in that if the voltage in the capacitor gets too large the flash will fire, to prevent damage, could be this that is faulty, if it is a new main circuit board is required.

Try cleaning them with some alcohol first. If this doesn't help. If this doesn't help then,
Try PhotoTech Repair Service, in NYC. They are Nikon authorized for all repairs, and are able to do warranty service in house. You can ship them your unit and, they are usually faster than the manufacturer, and cheaper! Plus if you join their facebook fan page they give you a 10% discount.
