Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

1 Answer

Sony Trinitron KV35S66

Very odd. I lost my picture. It will turn on and has the green 3 on the right hand corner but that is it. I took off the dvd so I only have the cable wire going into the cable box and from the cable box to the tv. It was manufactured October 1999. It has been very reliable. Its to heavy for me to bring to a tv repair shop. Is it worth having a repair done in house? I paid $899 and it has the pip feature.  Should I make this as my excuse to buy an HD flay panel for my wall?

Re: Sony Trinitron KV35S66

Before you buy that HD flat panel. Try this; disconnect the cable going in to your cable box and connect it directly to your set's cable RF connector at the back of the TV set, then try changing channels with the TV's remote, you may need to do an Auto Program first. Also make sure you select the correct tuner, that is tuner A, or B.
Hope that does it!

The TV randomly fades to green and then turns off. It's been doing this for almost two years now. We took it in to be serviced, and the repairperson could not duplicate the effect. It seems to have started...

Try lowering the brightness and contrast. Sounds like you are overdriving the picture tube. Green gun in picture tube may have a shorting element; if so no fix for that other than pic tube replacement.

Can not remove the number of the tv channel from the screen

How to remove the green number three from the right corner of the tv screen without having the original remote as the cable company suggested.

Channel display

Get an original remote and follow the instructions in the booklet that came with the set. If you have lost this, you may be out of luck. Universal remotes frequently do not cut the mustard!Sanyo, being fairly user friendly, sells replacements, as do others. Look around for one. There is probably a "Display" button or something obvious you need to press to get rid of this. Losing the original remote can be a gigantic "Gotcha!"

Green blur bot-R and up-L corner and no audio

If a standard TV has color splotches in 1 or 2 corners of the screen, it is possible that a large magnet, such as a large speaker, is or was near the set and has magnetized the picture tube. The set has a built-in degaussing coil but it is small and will only demagnetize small magnetic fields. Make sure there are no magnets near the set and if the colors are still off, have the picture tube demagnetized with a strong portable demagnetizer. As for the audio, when there are audio output jacks on the back of the set then there is usually an option to turn the speakers off. Some sets have a switch somewhere and some sets have a setting in the audio page of the on-screen menu. Look for a switch or go into the menu, navigate to the audio page and look for a speaker setting (ON / OFF) and make sure the speakers are set to ON.

Sony kv-32s42 needs help.Tuner problems?

Hi Grasshoppa, I would venture a guess that your tuner is not at fault but most probably the logic circuits controlling it since as you posted, you can tune > get a good picture but "channel numbers in the upper right hand corner ...." If your intention is to use the VCR and thereafter change channel using the VCR, you may use the Audio/Video input. With an RCA 3 cable connector, connect the (Yellow) Video out, (Red/White) L/R Audio out of the VCR to the Video in &L/R Audio in of the TV. You don't need to set the TV to Ch 3 but rather select Video 1 or 2 or A/V. Hope this be of some help/idea to you. Post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards
