Question about Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra MP3 Player

My Zen worked and then stopped....

Hi, I recently bought a used Nomad.  It worked fine when I got it, it had about 2000 songs on it,  but when I got it home and tried to download new songs on it the computer said it did not recognize the device and then the Zen said it didn't have any songs on it, even though it said it still had a conciderable amount of the memory used up.  This is so frustrating.  I am hopeful that I can salvage this unit as I paid for it and have not be able to enjoy it.  Help...please.

1. Insert a pin into the small hole on the left side of the player
below the volume adjustment switch.
2. Hold down the Play button on the right side of the switch
3. Rescue Mode Menu will appear
4. There are 4 Options available, but best option to fix most
problems is reformat hard drive.
5. Reformat is very fast

Here is a link to the Creative Mediasource software for the Zen Nomad

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click agree. This will start the download. Then run the program on your computer and you should be able to manage your Zen with this software. Let me know if it works.

You can connect the player to PC using the USB cable and transfer the songs from the player to PC. And then format the player to get it working again.

Creative Labs Nomad Zen Extra Jukebox 30 GB not working

Uninstall everything from your PC, reboot, reinstall driver and the Explorer (I do not use MediaSource, only the Explorer).

If it didn't work out follow these steps:

1. Uninstall Creative Media Source and all related software.
2. Install the driver. In the installation CD the driver is usually in \Drivers\English
3. Turn on the Nomad an connect it to the PC.
4. Install MediaSource(the program requires that you have the nomad connected while installing)
5. Install MediaSource plugin
6. Try transferring files.

If you?re still running into problem know that there are other programs capable of handling MediaSource?s functions, such as - Portable Audio Devices Power Toy , NomadSync, Real player, and there?s also a Zen plugin for the Winamp.

Good luck!

Some Songs Play Too Slow

This sounds like it may be realted to the "Time Scaling" feature, which is part of the "EAX" settings. Disable EAX and/or the Time Scaling feature and see if this helps.
