VersaJette m300c printer smudges

I have a VersaJette m300c printer.  Some of the letters on my document are smudging as they are printed (not after printing).  I have changed the ink cartridge and it is still happening.

    smudges even after replacing cartridge

smudge frequently is at the first 2 or 3 letters of the second line of type.

Same problem. I have 2 Versajette M300's (both free from G7 with other purchases). I have tried switching between 3 different cartridges - same problem with each. I have also tried running the alignment and cleaning procedures, cleaned the cartridges, changed USB cables and power cables and even reinstalled the printers. 1st printer worked for a couple of months but always had some smudging. I am using it to print checks and now the printing is leaving me with unacceptable smudging on the checks. 2nd printer never did print without severe smudging.

Same problem with the smudging. It must be an ongoing issue with the Versajette.

Same smudge problem. Often the smudged letters are at the left margin of one or two lines, usually no more than 5-10 characters. However an occasional document will print perfectly, but this is unpredictable. Very frustrating! The problem started from day 1 with the printer.

I am having the same issue. I received this printer free with my order as well. I have had it since the summer of 2007. I was able to get it to work a few times but it has not printed properly since. I get smudges down the left side and in the middle of the checks I print. Luckily my bank knows me well so they will accept them but other branches or check cashing places wont. Also, I never received a user guide. I hope someone finds a solution. I don't want to have to purchase another printer.

same problem... smudged characters at the beginning of 2nd or third line of every new page.

I have smudges on my checks. It is in the same place every time. It is on the logo of Windows when I do a print page. On the checks, it is my name on the top left hand side. I have contacted G7 about it and they no longer answer my emails. The solutions they gave have not worked. Also, now I am trying to convert the printer to Vista Home Premium and no luck with that either. Yeah, it was a free printer, but I bought more MICR ink and am feeling quite taken advantage of here. I earlier bought a Canon with the ink which ruined the heads so many times in the first year, Canon told me to stop using the ink with their product.

I am having the same challenge with the smudging. I get the wet the print cartridges but that doesn't work. I have to run some documents through which wastes the ink. I am totally disappointed with this printer. I tried Canon when they had that one as a special deal. I ran through 3 or 4 heads and Canon said not to use the MICR ink. Makes no sense to me. G7 won't respond to me anymore. I now have a Vista and it looks like that will be a challenge and I have an ink cartridge sitting in my closet for this dang thing. How disappointing is this.

My HP LaserJet 1300 printer smudges the entire document and the toner is very faint. The cartridge has toner in it.

It means your machine needs cleaning. You can purchase cleaning sheets from the office supply store, and insert it like a regular document, hit print, and the dirt comes off.

We have an hp Laser Jet 1300 printer. Approx 2" from left there is a smudge line from top of printed document to the bottom where the ink in the letters is scraped off and there is ink smudged onto...

First of u refill ur toner?? if so i advise u to get a new original one and refill refill the same toner for more than 3 times. Secondly, How old is ur printer and how many pages do u print weekly..or u be better off buying a new one...Finally, I think the problem is with the heated rubber rollers that are not melting the charged toner particles causing it to smudge. try cleaning the printer by removing any dust...i prefer that u try it out with a new toner and see if u have a same problem.

Printer is printing two smudge marks on my documents.

Two parts of the printer can affect this.
1) the toner cartridge
2) the fuser

Testing can be done to determine the problematic part.

Do a print using manual feed. Once the last bit of paper goes into the machine, open the printer door.
Remove the toner to check if smudge is there.
Replace toner cartridge if there is smudge, replace fuser it not.

Too much toner on paper which then smudges

Try reducing the print resolution using the menu buttons. Does it smudge with coloured prints? If so then the fuser unit is faulty. If it is only black that smudges it is likely to be the K Developer unit. Ensure that you are using genuine toners, not refills or third party as the quality of toner can cause similar results.

Poor quality smudge and ink blotting marks in the centre of any printed document

Try performing a test by printing a test page from Tray 1 and open the top cover as soon as the paper is 60% inside. The paper would jam below the toner cartridge before it reaches the fuser. Remove the toner cartridge carefully and verify if the smudges occur. This would eliminate the fuser. If the print quality is fine, then you need to swap the fuser.

Smudged checks with Versajette m300

Buy a cheap $100 Laserjet printer. I had the same problem w/ my Vesajette 300v8 and there was nothing I could to to fix the piece of s&@!. They wouldn't replace it, so I did. Checks can be printed on a std laser printer and accepted by the banks as they are read w/ optical scanners. MICR inks aren't mandatory, just a recomendation by the Federal Reserve to add a level of security to the checks. I have had no problems with my checks being accepted by the banks using the laser printer and standard toner ink. My checks are'nt in color anymore, but they do look awesome and look very crisp and professional. No more smudges, YAY!!
