Question about Saitek ST290 Joystick

1 Answer

Throttle Problem When I use the ST290 with Flight Simulator X, for some reason the throttle doesn't work properly. I've recalibrated many times and still have the same problem. My problem is that even with my joystick throttle lever all the way down at 0%, I can never get the cockpit throttle levels on the screen below 40%. If I am at a gate and I get a pushback, once I reach the taxiway I try to slightly raise the throttles to idle to get to taxi speed, but even with the slightest push they jump right up to 40% and I can't get them down again to taxi speed unless I use the keyboard to do so. Obviously the same problem makes it impossible to slow the plane down enough (without keyboard assistance) during final approach. What am I doing wrong? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!

my throttle control will not ramp up and down. When I attempt to use it, it is either full on or at idle. I have tried many times to calibrate it, with no success.

I find this very annoying. I have a Toshiba P100-434 Satellite laptop running Vista Home Premium (maybe a compatibility issue) but whenever I play FSX it sticks on no throttle or full throttle. Sometimes it is fine and I get some good flying done, then I load up a new plane an *BOOM*, I can't get it to move. i know you can press F4 for full throttle, but the joystick overrides it and puts it back to no throttle. It is a good joystick apart from this problem. Also, it seemed to happen frequently when I installed FSX: Acceleration Expansion Pack. It was fine before that. Any solutions would be great, as I have re-installed drivers and that stuff. I might just take it back and get a new one!

My throttle is stuck at about 90%. I'm reinstalling the Microsoft simulator X, which took 15 minutes to uninstall alone with its 20,000 files. So looks like its this joystick which the MF's didnt make right.

Here is what worked for me, for this **** pile of **** joystick. I opened it up (6 screws), and shorted the capacitors using a screwdriver. If you dont know how to do this or dont want to, leave it unplugged for some time. Keep trying a longer period of time of the previous amount didnt work. I've not trying this unplugging myself but doing so might help discharge the capacitors.

I am playing Flight Simulator X Gold Edition. On my Logitech Attack 3 joystick, what is the throttle control level number? Please help!

I have the same stick, the throttles are actioned by the little levers in front of you at the bottom of the stick, I dont quite understand what you mean by level number...
all you have to do is configure them in the configuration panel of the flight simulator, I use same simulator for practice.

Speed doesn't work

no the buttons does not have anything to do with this, first you need to recailibrate the flight yoke. then go back into flight simulator and check the senitivity levels move them all the way to the right the null needs to be to the left let me know if this takes care the problem if not we can do some more testing.

Speed doesn't work

The markings on the TQ are not to be used literally. I suggest you use it to get the speed you want on your gauge and ignore markings on the TQ iteslf. Try re-calibrating in your sim program so it knows what the full range of the throttle is.

I have Microsoft Flight Simulator X and a Satek X52 flight control, however I have problems with the throttle on all aircraft. I have to use the F-4 key - can you help?

You need to assign the throttle function correctly WITHIN FSX settings area itself. Also calibrate the joystick in windows first. If you are not familiar with assigning FSX functions to your joystick, check the Learning Center section within FSX for step-by-step details.

Saitek Throttle Quadrant wont go idle and full power

I had a similiar problem and after spending hours researching and looking at forums I figured out the a solution. Plug in the quadrant directly into your computer and then configure it. At that time make your necessary tweaks, i.e. null zones and sensitivity adjustments. After you get it to work properly there, then you should plug it into your yoke and everything should work fine.

Best regards,
