Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console
When playing games the microphone on the ds lite doesnt function
I fixed the MIC on my DS LITE very easily, after first replacing the MIC with a new one and finding that it still did not work (not an easy thing to replace either)! The internal MIC signal is routed to a contact at the front edge of the DS, which allows the internal MIC to be disconnected when an external MIC is connected. If this contact (which is normally held closed by the springy nature of the contact) gets dirty, then it effectively goes open circuit, disconnecting the internal MIC signal. You can use a cotton bud and a little WD-40 (contact cleaner) to clean the contact (clean the two pins next to the 3.5mm jack connector) to restore the electrical contact. Takes 5 minutes and is a LOT easier and cheaper than replacing the MIC or paying someone to repair it!

I fixed this by vacuuming the mic hole.

My daughter bought a ds lite on ebay so had no warranty. Her mic wasn't working for Nintendo dogs. But bought the proper ds headset with microphone for about $20 from **** smith and now she can use her games well.

You could just by a headset and hook it up to your ds since it has an external hookup.

Crap on ur DS!

Vacum or use a hair dryer to dry the wetness in the mic if you accidently spat in it.

Get a headset for $15 or less. Much cheaper than fixing the device. It will correct the problem if the mic not working is all that is wrong. Your other option is to have it repaired. Someone said they took theirs to Best Buy. My Best Buy didn't have a clue what I was talking about. (No surprises there.) I had previously tried cleaning with denatured alcohol and canned air with out any help. If you choose to send it in to get it fixed call support. They will quote $75 to start plus $10 S&H ask them if that's their best price, they should reduce it to $50. That's the offer they made me if I was willing to take it on the spot.

Ok i fond a solution if you have a ds lite i woundn`t bother trying to open it but i did the mic did not work at all until i opened it its a wire.
that you have to re-connect with a storing gun. or if you droped your ds that's the problem. or shell out $140.00 to buy a new one. or contact nintendo if you still have warranty

I used Solution #18 and it worked perfectly!!! I used the brush attachment of the vac hose, turned her on and VOILA`! The sound works perfectly! Took all of 2 minutes, if that!?! Sure beats spending almost what a DS costs to have it replaced...sheesh! I'd better watch it before my mom makes me clean LOL Thanks Mike!

We tried to clear the ds but it wouldnt work so we took it back to game and they gave me a new one and a warranty as well :)

Doh. Wish I read this before I bought a headset. But if the mic does not work, the headset apparently doesnt help. If your under warranty, contact Nintendo. If not, I think we're out of luck unless you want to shell out $75

What a stupid solution given by Magic_Keys.
Can't you read the comments, the bits where they tell you what games they are using.

Take it and throw it on the ground.
