Just install it as a slave drive to your C drive. If it doesn't work, nothing will go wrong or hurt your system. Make sure the rear pins are set to slave or drive 2. It will attach to your C drive easily. If you have any questions, let me know.

Hello, I have an old Quantum Empire Series

old ?, no relic?
what exact drive, why not stated exactly the drive part number.
then we can talk exact !
what is your goal. state that first.
the bar code on top, see that and above is a number.
like Quantum Empire Series Hard Drive 2100S
that be a SCSI buss, (I have huge experience with them, all evolutions)
so to connect any HDD< one first finds out what buss it is.
SCSI-1 ,2, or IDE, PATA ,or SATA, 3.5" or 2.5" lap size.
we start there,
yes, we can find a SCSI setup or adaptor but it will cost more
that that old drive is worth, about (size never stated) $5
how much do you want to spend on a $5 door stop?
if im wrong, say so but you never gave the P/N of the drive.
or a photo. solving it all.
i can interface anything...

Problem putting a 30 gig quantum lct 15 3.5"series as a slave

Did you switch the jumper config back to Master or CableSelect before trying to install them as a single drive? Also check the Maxtor website, (they owned Quantum too), for the correct jumper settings. Some of these drives (like the Quantum Fireball lct series) need TWO jumpers not just one. That was the trick that fixed mine from not being recognized by the Bios or the Windows setup disk....I got it used with only a single jumper, but it needed two to put it Cable Select mode.

Loading driver

That is a 10GB hard drive. You don't need any special drivers to use it unless your computer is extremely old.

After clearing CMOS and it still doesn't work, try to run FDISK on the drive. Delete partitions and create a new one. There could be a hidden partition which could be using the other hard drive space. Restart PC and then format again. This should allow you to use the full hard drive capacity.

Hard Disk Quantum QML20000LD-A

Hi, may I offer an alternative solution? You may want to try and replace the entire PCB assembly rather than repair. I would assume that the Quantum QML20000LD-A is a few years old and so many of the same brand/model would be lying around computer repair shops. Even if defective, these drives can be: 1) direct parts source; and 2) remove/use the entire board. You can even find this kind of HD from old CPUs (166-550 MHZ.) I believe you can get them relatively cheap and faster. Hope this somewhat helps. Cheers.
