SOURCE: sharp mini dv video camera vl dc5 language english menu

I just quote comments from Dcramer Expert...
To change the language, access Language in the menu and then select the correct language. Please see "Setting the Language" in your operator manual for further instructions.
Try this: Select Camera Menu; Dial down to #60(OTHER FUNCTIONS) Press dial and jog to last item on page 2. (HOUR METER) Now dial up three lines and press the dial. You should now see SELECT LANGUAGE >English >Japanese. Press the camcorder's power button while pressing and holding the Record button to recall the Camera Settings menu.

Scroll through the camera settings option until you get to the Language option.

Set the camcorder to the language you want to use with FlipShare.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

I need the part # that will allow me to connect my Sharp Viewcam Z VL-Z1 to my computer to download video. Please help.

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection for stills (if they have one) and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can usually be found on Amazon or eBay. Try a search on your camera model number. Most cameras need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other.

Download correct software to burn dvd off of camcorder

You do not need the manual, you need the white DV cable that comes with the view cam. it connects into the DV port on the left side of the camera theto the "Y" port located next to the usb ports in the front of the hard drive. Turn the camera to VCR and XP will automatically open the CD wizard and follow the prompts. then use any burning device on your computer, mine is Media Center to make a DVD. Its easy for those challenged like myself!

Viewcam Z VL-Z100

You may need what's called a 'firewire' port, which was the transfer port of choice for most DV models of the time.

My contact at the local RadioShack advised me that a DV-to-USB cable might work to allow transfers since firewire isn't really supported these days. I've not tested it myself though. The cable should cost less than $20.00... and if you're careful with the packaging, you could always return it if it proves useless.

HOWEVER, this is what you may need to allow correct transfer from the cam to the laptop:

Check, first, to make sure that the pc-end of the cable is, in fact, a firewire connector.

Trafer from cam to comp

You need to buy a standard fire-wire IEEE cable at any store that sells such things (Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc.). I plugged it right into my fire wire port on my PC and Windows Movie Maker automatically launched.

You should have the driver on the cdrom that came with the cam, as it may well be hidden within the software if you have'nt installed it. But if the problem continues, uninstal the current drivers in add/remove programmes and re install and add your cam to a different usb port than before, although i would of thought firewire connection would be more suitable for speedier transfers.
