I have an ASUS A6r entertainment notebook. I recently reinstalled Windows XP (Standard Home edition, did not receive a disc when laptop was bought) and now my Video and audio hardware will not work. My laptop's monitor is widecreen and the only resolutions i can get are square, and my audio hardware just will not work. i went onto the ASUS website and downloaded the drivers for my notebook and they will not work. The video driver recieves an error and tells me to try and install a Standard VGA Driver first (which i am confused about) and my audio drivers which i tried to install say that they cannot find a driver and setup must be aborted. Someone please help.

Sound driver and Audio driver is one and the same thing. I do not know that which Operating system you are using (like Windows xp, Windows Vista and Windows 7). To check this out go to "Computer" or "My Computer" and right click it and then point the mouse pointer to "Properties". A new windows will open and you will be shown the version of Windows (either XP, Vista or Windows 7).
For windows XP download from the following link by copy pasting it in your internet browser
http://www.driverstock.com/ASUS-A6R-driver-download/6-21-10801/index.html
For Windows 7/Windows Vista 6.305 download the
"Realtek AC'97 Drivers for Windows 7/Vista 6.305"
from the following link
http://www.downloads2k.com/Realtek-AC-97-Drivers-for-Vista.html
For older version of Windows Vista 2.50 use the following link

Good luck and take care!
SOURCE: how to remove keyboard on asus a6r
GoTo: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?board_id=3&model=F8Va&id=20081014062722281&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
and you will find Kenjo explain it as below:
Flip the laptop over, there is a hole scre in a
hole on the graphics card asnd cpu cover. It is marked with a K>.
Remove that screw and flip the laptop back over. At the top of the
keyboard over th F2 button, between F5 and 6, F10, and the INS
buttons. Pop these over to release and then there are two on the sides
near Tab and PgUp. Slowly lift the keyboard up. The data cable is on
the lower left. Slide the lock bar down and release the data cable. I
had my machine almost completly apat before I realized how easy it
reallys was.
Good Luck even though you should't need it as Keyboard Removal on most Laptops aren't that hard to work out, just thorough examination and not brut force.
cheers,
Bastian

If you're lucky no, just pay close attention when you take it apart to what's below the plate...sometimes the plastic / holes where the screws go in break and if they're bad then the bottom assembly will have to be replaced as well.
