I too have the simililar problem what john said.
But the difference is that my monitor keeps on blinking and does not get turned on.
The was of blinking exists from last one month and initially it was turned on after 10-15 min of system on.But as the time passed the problem got worse and now it is continuously blinking and never gets turned on.

A possible solution may be with respect to the wrong set up of screen refresh rate.
One method is to use another monitor to set up your system for default VGA to stabalise the video card output to the common standard.
Next switch monitors to your LG and run the installation CDROM or if you do not have an installation CDROM allow your system to detect it and set up a windows default driver with a low refresh rate. When its stabalised get the correct driver from the LG website.
