Remove the back panel quite a few screws, once of the belt can be seen, mind your fingers (use hook on metal coat hanger or the like) and roll the drum slowly with the hook under the belt directing it off the drum, refit is much the same as removal although special care should be taken not to nip the belt, fit to small pulley first on motor then turn drum slowly gradually rolling onto the drum mind the fingers and obviously make sure machine is off.
New belt is very tight, so you have to use more strength. Put it on motor and all other on "drum". Spin it easily and slowly but with strength until its done.
I suggest that you open the unit and inspect the burner area. UNPLUG first, of course. Most likely you have lint or other foreign material around the burner element.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would strongly recommend purchasing a replacement belt rather than putting the old one back on; it is likely only to come off again. Here are my guidance notes-
----------------------------------------------
Belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!
Hope this is your problem solved.
Good luck,
John C
Broken or belt has come off. If can open back and fix or replace. You may need to remove the top. Careful of the heat element, lift out drum and place new belt on motor holding it while you put the drum back keep hold of belt and place around drum replace top and should be ok. Hope this Helps
If you can hear the motor running and have also checked the belt tension and they are O.K., then the only thing I can think of is the Motor pulley, where the belt sits on.
Check that out and make sure it is not loose on the motor shaft, so that the motor turns but the pulley slips.
no im afraid thisis not a DIY job and i charge £120 pounds to supply and fit new bearings and spider and you should also get @ least 6mths g/tee on parts fitted
good luck
remove the rear panel screws, remove side panels, pull drum backwards, slide belt down front of drum and under, refit rear panel screws refitting drum at the same time, place belt around motor spindle and reasemble, job done.
