Where is the was button

I'm guessing you mean the WPS button - "Wireless Protected Setup" - As far as I can see from the User Guide this router doesn't have an actual WPS Button - You need to log onto its admin web interface and browse to the WPS setup page - Press the WPS button on your client device (laptop, printer, etc) then Click the WPS button in the router's web interface and let them talk to each other to establish a secure connection - The WPS light on the Front Panel should then light up when connected - You can find a user guide at the following url:

Locking the router can be done by setting a WEP key. Its a 10 digit alphanumeric key that you can set. Once you set it up, anyone who tries to access your router wirelessly will be prompted for that 10 digit key. Be sure to change your SSID (wireless network name) also so that you can distinguish your own secured wireless network from others.

SSID can be changed on the main setup page.

1. To access it, open Internet explorer while your computer is physically connected to the router.

2. Type http:\\ (the default IP address of the router.) It will ask you for the username and password.

3. Enter the word "admin" for both username and password. It is the factory default username and password. On the main setup page, you will find the field for SSID or Network name.

4. Type your unique wireless network name and click the Save button on the bottom of the page.

5. On the router's web-based setup page, click the Wireless tab then click the Wireless Security sub-tab

6. Click the drop-down arrow for Security Mode and select WEP.

7. Under WEP Encryption select 64 bits 10 hex digits.

8. Enter a unique word in the Passphrase field, then click Generate.

9. The result will be a string of letters and numbers displayed in the space provided for Key 1.

NOTE: Take note of what is in Key 1. This key will serve as the wireless security password. Keep this key confidential.

10. Click the Save Settings button.

From now on, whenever anyone tries to access your wireless network, they need to enter Key 1 which you only know. There you go. Your wireless network is protected.

If you look at the lights on it you should have one for WLAN or Wireless connection. If this is not lit up you will need to go into your settings for the router and turn this on, save your settings and come back out again. You can do this by opening a web page and typing in the address bar, or this should let you into your router internal setup, you may need to input a password and security key. Hope this helps

How do i find my network key

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from the network-port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on the ACER Access Point.
Access the web-server "inside" the router to run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard".
You'll need to specify an SSID, choose an encryption-level (use 'WPA'), and specify the password/pass-phrase/network-key.

Use that SSID and password to connect your wireless device to your now-fully-configured router.

I am trying to connect my laptop to wireless internet, but it keeps asking for the security key. What is it?

an access key is configured in the wireless routers web console to allow only the users with the key to connect to it. sometimes referred to as a "WEP KEY" or "WPA key" or "authentication code" To login to your web console, join your computer to your wireless router with a network cable (yellow below) to an Ethernet port 1,2,3 or 4 ef8efd2.jpg open your browser and surf to (instead of www) or (most common) you should presented with a login screen most common username and password is admin and admin a482702.jpgonce you have logged in look for your wireless security setup screen such as this.....5be26fc.jpg
look for the Wireless and Security Screens to enter or check your access security code, enter a code or review the existing one. Then once you save your changes you can connect with your laptop, now that you know the security key.6679972.jpg

How to reset the security key of my trendnet tew-430apb 54mbps wireless access point?

To change your router wireless security
  • Support site here
  • User guide here
  • Quick setup here
Connect your PC to the router with a cable to one of the LAN connections - Now you need to Log into the setup of the router - to do that open a web browser, use Internet explorer (some routers setup pages do not work correctly with other browsers) In the browser address bar - Enter IP address to the address location. When there is a screen needs to enter the User name and Password, both of the default Username and Password is “admin”
Now you can goto the wireless section or secruity section and set the type of encyption to WEP, WPA, WPA-PSK etc and then make up your own password. See Page 12 of the User Manual
On the PC Double click on the wireless connection in the system tray (bottom right hand side of screen) and then connect manually to your wireless signal - you will be asked for the password you set in the router.
Now you are connected.
You may need to remove any old wireless profiles you have on the PC/Laptops
Wireless Profiles - Vista/Windows 7: - delete the wireless profiles Start> control Panel> classic view> network and sharing center> manage wireless networks Delete the profiles you will then have to enter the wireless security key for any networks you connect to --
Wireless Profiles - XP - delete the preferred networks start> control panel> network connections> right click on the wireless connection listed wireless networks tab in the preferred network list click on each one and - remove button
you will then have to enter the wireless security key for any networks you connect to
