Drive it as is, or put a couple thousand into the fix

You ran it out of oil, find out why

The damage is done to any number of places in the motor,
your lucky you can still use it

Don't spend money on a 13 year old vehicle & a 4.6
Drive it as long as you can, find out where the oil went

Testimonial: "do you think the oil is not getting to the passenger side lifters because of a stop up"

SOURCE: oil plug came out didn't realize no oil pressure t

the oil is there to cool and lubricate the crank ( bottom end) and the cam shaft and valves (top end) the most likely out come is that you have (cooked) the engine, check to see if when you try to start dose the engine turn? if it dose then it could be the oil temp switch will need to be replaced. if the engine DOSENT turn then you have most probably welded the pistons to the block. seized the crank shaft or warped the head (head gasket) i hope this helps

SOURCE: leaks oil ,changed oil pressure switch, still

this is possiable, the best thing to do is have the engine cleaned of all residual oil and then drive the car a few ays and recheck the leak, it will be easier to see the source of the leak that way, on oil leaks i hate to guess, oil gets blown everywhere by road draft so it come from up front and be all over the side of the engine

SOURCE: I am embarrassed to say that I am an owner of a 98

Sounds like its either a cracked engine block or a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head.

Where is the oil pump on a 1997 mercury sable 3.0 engine think its weak as I hear valves chatter and changed oil filter it was only half full of oil is this normal

Half full is not normal. You may have leak or burn. Clatter is usually the hydralic valve lifters. Does it quiet down after it's been running a while? What is the oil pressure?

The fuel on my 2002 ford expedition suv dropped from 1/4 of a tank to 0 in just seconds

Sounds like you've sprung a leak somehow. Check to see if any gasoline is leaking. You should be able to smell it if it was.

If the valve lifters are quiet you most likely have oil pressure even with gauge showing "0".Sounds like the oil pressure switch going bad.I would try that first.

when you travel over 65 mhr for long lenghts of time you don,t work the engine enough to move the fluid to lubricate the engine also when you go on long trips make sure the oil life is still gonna be good for the hole trip

Have a 1990 Z71 4wd that with loud engine knock.

I'd consider some fresh, clean oil & filter change first of all, if it hasn't been done . drive it for a while providing it isn't too bad, & see if it goes away, if not get back to us.

ThenI start my engine it sounds like diesel and no power

how is the oil level and pressure?, how many miles on engine? is this a loud knock or rather a clatter/ticking noise? knock is engine rod or crankshaft bearings, clatter loud ticking is valve follower noise. how long before it (the noise) goes away?
