Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200
Washer is attempting to fill during the rinse cycle, however water is draining out as fast as it tries to fill. It will run like this until it is manually shut off (ran for over an hour like this the other day). When I did shut it off, all water drained out. OUCH! I hate to see my water bill.
Sounds like the water is being siphoned out by the drain hose. Check to see if the drain hose rises above the top of the tub.

Tips for a great answer:
If the washer is turning off mid cycle then the problem most likely has something to do with the draining or the filling.
First check the drain hose is not to far down the standpipe. If it is to far down then the water might siphon out during fill. The water would fill and drain at the same time. One cycle I would like you to try is the "Rinse Only" cycle. This is a simple, short cycle that should just fill once, drain and spin. If the washer will do this then the major components are most likely okay.
Make sure the water drains out and let me know if the drain pump is the source of the noise you hear.
