First make sure the battery is charged, then try this 'factory reset' method instead of the one you mentioned (you will loose all data on the device, so hopefully you have a backup):
Turn off the unit; hold down the volume up and power buttons at the same time until the system recovery screen appears, then scroll down to 'Factory Reset' using the volume button and select using the power button.
I have the Jazz dvx40. When I turn It on all I get is the Jazz logo. I have to take the battarys out to turn it off. I have put new battarys in and get the same results. What can I do?
HI, I just got off the phone with a very nice man in NJ at Digitac. He walked me through a few fixes: Try a different SD card, clear SD card, put SD card in and then start camera, start camera and then put SD card in. None worked, so he said something is wrong with the camera computer and I will have to send the camera in for warranty work.
