No internet connection

-   hello i own a rooter code di-524.
my broadband is connected straight to the rooter and then we have a computer connected via the adaptor 1 via wireless and 1 by enet through the rooter.
the problem is wen the computer plugged in via the adaptor is turned off no other computer will work via the internet.
please can you tell me why this is.???
and how can i resolve this without smashing it to pieces...
