I have Powerpoint Viewer 2007 installed in my Vista 64-bit, and am able to run Powerpoint Viewed 2007 and File-open *.pps files without any problem. However, the problem I'm having is when double-clicking on *.pps files or when openning the *.pps attachments. It keeps complaining that ''*.pps is not a valid Win32 application''. I have tried exactly the solution suggested here, but it just didn't work for me for some reason.
The files are already associated with Powerpoint Viewer 2007. The error I'm getting is when it executes Power Viewer 2007. I only get that error when double-clicking on the *pps files; I don't get the error when running Power Viewer 2007, and then File-Open the filesThe files are already associated with Powerpoint Viewer 2007. It is possible that you are attempting to install a 64-bit version of Java when you have a 32-bit operating system. Check your operating and confirm this. In Vista you can find this using Start > Control Panel > System. This is similar if you have Windows 7. Here is what it looks like:
If after that you, you follow these instructions from Sun (Java) to locate and install the 32-bit version.

If you wish to view Power Point (.pps) attachments you receive in your e-mail, you need to download and install the Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 which you can download by clicking this link.
Also, please be careful while opening PowerPoint documents you receive in email because a lot of viruses are transmitted these days along with .pps documents. So, only open PowerPoint attchments from contacts whom you know.
Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa
Because Powerpoint is part of the Microsoft Office package, you would think that
you would have to purchase Microsoft Office to view .pps files. This is
not so. You can download the free PowerPoint viewer from here:
Install that and reboot.
Then open the email again and it will automatically open with
Powerpoint Viewer. Or it will ask you what program you want to open it
with, and you click the PowerPoint Viewer .exe icon, and tick the
'Always open with this Program?' box.
pps files are Microsoft PowerPoint slideshows.

Hi it is not the problem related to PP viewer. The problem with the Browser or iexplorer.exe So please try to upgrade it to IE7 or repair internet explorer and restore defaults of the explorer settings..
