The second hand car I bought for my daughter has a mitsubishi 10 cd player. All functions well, but it must be turned off before switching off ignition. If not... then it never seems to lose power, the display just continuously flashes - sometimes it also intermittently keeps playing. I have waited for minutes. It does not stop. As mentioned before. If unit is powered down before turning off ignition then it all goes dark, ignition is then turned off and all is fine.
You need to check both of the main power wires. The 12V constant is almost always yellow and fused, and this connects directly to the battery, and functions as a memory for time, radio presets, etc. The Red wire is the 12V switched, and it needs to be hooked to an accessory wire or the ignition wire, whichever your preference. The 12V swithced is the prompt for the radio to turn on and function, and if it is connected to the battery, the radio will never go off unless turned off physically.
Testimonial: "Tks so much for yr hlp - sorry did not get bck right away. Went o/seas and only just got around to fixing it. Wiring really was a mess. All good. :)"
