Question about Printers & Copiers

Refurbished Canon PC 160

I purchased a refurbished Canon PC 160 desktop copier from ebay.  I ordered a compatible recycled toner cartridge from Re-Ink Inc.

When I placed the toner in the machine and made a copy, a thick black "margin" approximately 3 -4 inches thick appears on the right side of the paper.  I removed the cartridge and cleaned out the inside of the machine (as best as possible) however I still am getting this black margin on my copies.

Other than this, the copier works great.  I am wondering if it could be the toner cartridge.

Can you help me.

You most likely have to clean your toner drum, or clean your transfer sheet.

if you use a non Samsung cartridge that was "compatible" there is a chance that the cartridge was refurbished, and some refurbished toner cartridges to do leak.

your best bet is to clean what ever parts you can get your hands on, the manual should explain where those parts are.

We replaced the drum and now nothing will print at all?why?

Hello kandi johnson,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: If you are sure you pulled the plastic drum cover slip out of the cartridge, then I can only present that this is a bad cartridge.

Check to be sure the plastic sleeve has been removed, that covers the drum of the new cartridge. Next, take a clean cloth, and wipe out the inside of the toner cartridge area. Taking care to wipe out an extra toner that may have spilled from previous cartridges. Take care to clean the right and left sides of the cartridge area well. These areas make contact with the toner cartridge.
Lastly, check the top left side of the cartridge area for the toner contact interface. This is typically a series of 2 or 3 copper contacts. Thry to clean these with a pencil eraser, or the cloth. This will allow for clean contact to the new cartridge.

If the printer continues not to print, check to be sure you have a replacement cartridge and put it in. Not everything we buy new or refurbished is 100% guaranteed to work. :)

Have a great day!

Refurbished Magenta cartridge, others okay, receiving 10.0002 supply error. Can I fix this without going to the much more expensive HP toner cartridges?

The error is caused by the small micro chip on the magenta toner cartridge. You may be able to purchase a chip from a toner cartridge remanufacturer but I would return the cartridge to where you bought it and tell them it is faulty and have it replaced.
Otherwise purchase another toner cartridge.

On my Dell 3110cn printer, I keep getting the following error message: "Error C Cart 093-919" I bought this refurbished yellow toner cartridge from a reputable dealer on EBAY and it is basicaly...

remanufactured toners, or off brand toners are sometimes not compatible. I would contact the dealer you bought the toner from and tell them the cartridge is defective and demand an exchange or refund.

When i install a recycled color cartridge my printer shows an error and wont let me print.

Send the cartridge back to whoever sold it to you and get a refund. Some of these refurbished cartridges are just not up to specifications to be used again. Sorry.

Tried refurbished cartridge ( CL 41) on my Pixma 160. Get message that ink cartridge not compatible

i think your refurbished ink already has defects on the printhead. when this is the case, refurbished ink cant no longer be used even if you reset or refill it.

Ink blockage in Canon MP 600 printer

Given that you may spend a considerably amount of time and money trying new cartridges, etc... it's probably best to invest in a new printhead (these are easily replaceable and considered consumables by Canon).

In the USA, purchasing from Canon directly is very cheap but elsewhere, like the UK it's prohibitively expensive so you may be better purchasing a refurbished iP4300 from the Canon Outlet dealer on ebay. This gets you a set of cartridges and compatible printhead for a lot less than just a printhead.
