Verbatim flash drive incorrectly reporting insufficient space

Just acquired a Verbatim Store N Go 16Gb flash drive and am trying to put a 6.6Gb file on it.

It keeps telling me there's not enough space even though I've deleted everything else (which only amounted to 4Gb anyway) and WINDOWS XP reports there's plenty of room on there.

Que pasa?

Verbatim store n go usb flash drive 8 gb device not recognized

My Verbatim Sto N Go 8GB USB Flash Drive does not work in any port, in any computer. When I plug it in, the "Device is not recognized" error comes up. When I click on it, and the Unknown Device Properties comes up, the device status reads: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

The driver details read:
Provider: Advanced Micro Devices
File Version: 1.0.11.82 built by: WinDDK
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility

This is the 2nd drive of this same brand that quit working within 6 months. I have MONTHS of work on files in this drive, and would hate to have to redo all that work! I was real careful after the first one went bad to use the eject button when removing it from my computer. But I am thinking the last time I clicked the eject button, it froze, so I just pulled it out without the message coming up. Hopefully there is someway to get the computer to recognize this drive again???

8gb flash drive holds less than 2gb

Try reformatting the flash drive. Copy all your important files somewhere, since reformatting the device would erase all saved data. Go to "My Computer", right click on the usb device, click "Format...", click "Start" on the window that pops-up, click "ok" and wait for the formatting to finish. This should erase all data on the device, including hidden files that might be taking the space up.

Verbatim 2 GB store n go says it has 918 MB of free space, but says 'disk is full' when I try to add files. I do not believe the store n go is partitioned. What gives?

If you can read the drive, Copy the information from it, into your computer, and format the drive, copy the files back, and it should work... also, if you have a security switch on the drive (write protection) you have to disable it.

8mb vs 8gb of space on an 8gb flash drive

sounds like you upgraded it to a dynamic volume and are using the leftover space, flash drives should be left as basic disks and formatted fat 32.

I have a cruzer micro 16Gb flash drive with 14.9Gb

Did you reformat as NTFS instead of the default FAT32? FAT32 can only transfer files up to 4.0Gb in size. If you reformat as NTFS, you can move larger files.

How do I turn off the write protect on the verbatim 4gb flash drive?

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)
