Gateway model 700g comes on briefly when powered on then goes black. Will come on briefly each time you power off and on

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed GATEWAY monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I have a gateway FPD2485W tft lcd monitor and i start my monitor and after it shows gateway it then goes black. How can this be fixed

bonannorl, Maybe it can be fixed. You did not give any history of unit. Only "now" stuff. Is unit covered by Gateway warranty? How old is unit? Date of manufacture? Did unit work fine connected to your pc and this black or black n blank screen thing suddenly happen? Is screen also BLANK? Have you swapped-in old monitor to prove PC is OK? Your CCFL back-lit lcd monitor no different than any other brand in it's basic design and operation. Get into my fixya profile and read some of my testimonials and solutions to black or black n blank screen problems to help in your decision to DIY fix or contract out needed repair work. Most likely 2485w has problem with it's internal "switch-mode-power-supply"/"ccfl inverter supply"!! Let me know more info about unit.

My monitor power on then cut off what can i do

Hi there,
I had the same problem with the exact same model of Gateway 19" LCD. Likely this is the same issue you're experiencing, and I hope you're able enough with a multi-meter and soldering iron to fix this issue, or willing enough to tear this thing down to its components and at least try to fix it.... otherwise you have a fancy dead-weight object on your hands/desk.

In my case, the 5V power was fried so I actually inserted a 5V 2A power supply inside the monitor housing and soldered the +5V and GND leads to the marked connector pins that connect the power board(larger) to the vga signal board(much smaller). I stripped the guts from the 5V power supply so it would fit easier, and then stole power from the 120v monitor input and directly wired that to the wires that were hooked to the 120v power supply prongs(after removing those prongs as well). The monitor looks and functions as if it were brand new, there's nothing extra hanging out and no bulges anywhere. It works excellent.

Aside from my more-so hackful approach, here's some links and quotes, from other sites, from people who know what components to replace on the power board and still achieve a well-working end result.

Gateway XHD3000 Monitor

I may be able to fix it for you
I believe the problem is in the same board that causing the strobing screen problem.
Cost is 150 to repair the problem board if it isfixable. No charge if not fixable.
You will have to pay round trip shipping for the monitor and power supply to Pennsylvania.

I have a Gateway monitor that needs a power cord

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-12V-2-5A-Adapter-Power-Supply-for-LCD-monitor-Cord_W0QQitemZ220405347970QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools?hash=item33512eb682

Or you can just type in 12v 2.5A LCD Adapter in an Ebay search. You can usually find a bunch of buy now power supplies that come with cords for a decent price. I've been using one of these for a year or so on my monitor.

Gateway FPD1975W black 19 inch LCD

most likely is the power supply in the monitor.
gateway LCD has a building power supply in the monitor. it supplies 38W to the lamp.
since there is no display, it tells me that there is no power to the monitor.
if try another monitor and it works fine. then the problem is the monitor. (dispaly lamp is good for 17 Years- according to the tech spec.) but the power supply is pushing too much power.
other vendors max power is apporximately 30W.

make sure there is nothing behind the monitor and has good air flow. Since there is no fan in the unit. it need to vent the hot air natually.
