Re: linux installation

If your hard disk is sata follow these steps

1. restart your computer and press del key or F2 to enter into bios

2. Go to drive configuration and change the sata ATA/IDE mode to Legacy

3. press F10 to save the settings

Install Linux and you are done

good luck

Hello you maybe need a driver you can download it here:

Try the one for the chipset.

Maybe the harddrive/or cable has a fault. Does the drive spinning
when the power is on ??

Check the bios for the settings for the harddrive
(press delete when you boot)

Connecting sata hdd on 845ge

Directly you can't, the chipset on that motherboard doesn't support SATA. You will have to buy a PCI SATA card and plug the disk in it.

I have Intel 810e PIII 1 GHz 512 Mb Ram 20 GB HDD. OS Win ME I want to add secondary HDD. Which one should I preferr 80GB / 120GB / 160GB. and will install new OS say Win XP or linux in Secondary Hdd....

160gb - but ensure the bios is up to date and check the motherboard manual as that will or should explain about maximum capacity of hard drives but am sure it should be fine.

If it is not and does not detect all of it you can partition the partitions into smaller amounts ie 80 gb partitions each ?
