The Fn key on laptops is only used in conjunction with other keys.
look at your KB you should see some icons that are the same colour as the Fn key eg on my laptop the F5 key has 2 TV symbols, this pressed while holding the Fn key turns on the external display port, perfect for connecting to a projector, other combinations are for turning WiFi off and on, mute, volume control and brightness.
you must open the f1 for help, and follow the instruction for enable the FN key. or restart the computer HOLD the key CTRL+f2 or esc depend of your model, and enable the key FN.
You should makes sure you have the touchpad enabled. This is usually Fn F5 or whatever key is assigned to the touchpad. This is indicated on the F1-12 keys by a little blue icon. Hold the Fn key, and hit the corresponding key. Check to see if it turns back on. If the touchpad still doesnt work, you've got a hardware problem.
