Unlock MacBook pro

On the newer macs, you can hold down D while booting which will take you to diagnostics mode. There you can reset the password. For older systems, you will need boot media.

Password for my macboor air

Sadly enough there's no other way to get back into your installation. If you need to backup your data, either boot into windows with the bootcamp drivers installed or take out your hard drive and plug it into a pc. Once you have a backup completely shut down your macbook and plug it in. Press and hold CMD+R and turn the Macbook on, it should now boot into recovery, where you can format and reinstall OS X.

Macbook a1278 flashing ?

Put your OSX disc in, if that loads then you need to have your hard drive looked at, the operating system may also need to be reinstalled. But first, have a tech look at it.

Hello, I recently bought an LG DX5 mini external hard drive and didn't realize that the only disc it came with was a mini disc for a web book. I need to know how to format it so I can use it with my...

Your MacBook should recognize the default file system already used to pre-format the LG extenal hard drive at the factory. You'll be able to write and read from it without issue. In fact, if you intend to ever also use it with a Windows machine, using it and leaving it in its pre-formatted state is recommended. As a novice user, I'm imagining you'll use the external drive for file storage. You'll only need to format it specifically for your MacBook if you intend to use it for more specialized MacBook tasks (like using the built-in Mac backup utility). In which case, the instructions to format it for Mac is available here -

I am using SuperDuper to clone my 160GB MacBook Hard Drive to a 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue. My problem is that I cannot determine why neither the SuperDuper program nor the MacBook itself...

The Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB hard drive is formatted for PC, not Mac. The simplest way to get your MacBook to recognize this new drive--and therefore copy the files from your old drive--is to plug it in to a PC and format the drive. I was advised to format with FAT 16, as this would be recognized by my MacBook. Fortunately, the process was not that involved, since the Vista-driven PC found the drivers for the WD Scorpio Blue automatically. Once formatted, I safely removed the drive and plugged it into my MacBook via a USB port using a BYTECC Drive Mate. Magically, it now appeared on my MacBook Desktop and was recognized by the cloning software I was using, SuperDuper. Three hours later, the files on my old hard drive were successfully cloned onto the Scorpio Blue--except now I had an additional 364GB of storage space. Swapping out the old drive and replacing it with the new was not a big deal at all--just make sure you have the right screwdriver for the last task--a Torx #6. Mission accomplished.

Wiping a Macbook clean like NEW

You need the original Mac OS recovery cds to initialize the hard drive and reinstall the software. Aplle calls formatting the hard drive- Initializing the hard drive. If you don't have the cds, then you need to purchase the Mac OS cds. either Tiger or Panther (again, that is what Apple calls it's software)

If the unit still boots up but is having issues, you can click on the hard drive icon. , click on Applications. Click on Disk Utility.
Click on repair. The OS will repair any errors that it finds. If this works, great. If not you will have to use the Mac OS cds.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
