Does it have a separate drain pump? when you look under it, is the drain line connected at front right corner of pump housing?there is a check housing in the tube that the drain hose connects to. it unscrews and has narrow opening on threaded end..may be blocked there.

Frigidaire FFBD2403LW normal cycle hum

Hello ddux97 - Often this occurs because either not enough water is being pumped to the spray arm or in other words the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. Will the spray arm rotate freely? If it does not, then you might have to remove or replace the spray arm assemblies since it is possibly damaged. Confirm that the drain hose is strapped up properly under the sink to prevent the water from siphoning out during the cycle. If issue persists, I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully.

I have a whirlpool Adp8540 that seems to go through the wash cycle completely but when we open it up the water has not gone through the spraying arms and the soap is a solid mass at the bottom of the...

It is likely the water circulation system is faulty. This dishwasher uses a single motor to run the water pump and the drain pump. If you hear the wash pump operate during wash cycle then it is likely there is a blockage in the water circulation manifold which distributes the water through the arms.

If you do not hear the pump operate during wash cycle then the sensor is faulty. The sensor tells dishwasher to switch to drain cycle from wash cycle.

Try following the diagrams at top of this website to get idea of parts.

My mother-in-law called and her dishwasher is making a loud noise when the motor runs. sounds like a bad bearing somewhere? the noise stops when it drains (motor not running?). does that sound like the...

There is only one motor -- it runs a water pump for recirculating the water when it's washing and runs a water pump when it's draining.

It sounds like the spray arm is making the noise -- this is the part thru which the motor / pump forces the water during the wash cycle -- the pumped water causes the arm to rotate -- a warn or loose spray arm or mount is likely the problem.

Or, it could be just some utensil stuck in the bottom of the dishwasher which the spray arm is rubbing.

More info, let me know.

The dishwasher seems to be cycling - but I no longer get the flush into my disposal and I don't hear much water circulating inside the machine. Also, the soap doesn't all diappear. Any suggestions?

The high pressure water pump is defective and is not spraying the much required jets of water to the dishes.
This is the reason that your dishes are also not cleaned.
You might have to remove and check if the pump is faulty or a cleaning job can rectify the issue.

Try rotating the spray arms by hand. It should rotate freely. If possible clean the arm rotating place by removing them.

Arms rotate by by pump pressure only. finally check the water pump also.

Wash cycle doesn't seem to work. bottom has water

Your gonna have to pull the dishwasher out and shut off the water line. Then disconnect the water hose and get you a bucket. Then turn on the water line to see if water comes out. If water comes out strong then your water supply line is good, which means your inlet port on the dishwasher is clogged or hard water has clogged the little holes in the dishwasher arms. Dishwashers are meant to leave a little water remaining at the bottom to keep the sensor from burning up.

Our dishwasher is not running through all cylcles

Either:

1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.

Good luck,

Dishwasher

Can't really supply a solution, mine has done this since Christmas. Mine seems to be related to the volume of water taken(or indeed not) into the machine. I have resorted to chucking a bowl of water into the bottom at the start (after the initial draining cycle) of the programme and during the rinse. Not exactly automatic & I can't imagine it will do the pump much good flogging it without a sufficient prime, however it works for me. I'll keep an eye to see if a more substantive fix comes along. Best wishes.

Dishwasher not spraying

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Good luck!
